On paper Mackie sounds like a cloned Jonathan Walters Having played in lower divisions most of his career, 2 goals in 18 appearances, runs around alot. Apart from being 2-3 inches shorter (which surprised me), he seems a Walters clone on grass too! The prospect of two Walters in the XI is pretty scary. What is scary seeing both Mackie & Walters lining up on the wings together . TPs wet dream of having two headless chickens as wingers.

It seems from reports we didn't fancy Mackie (not in a gay way), so I guess they have come back with the cash. If it is 6m or over, I'd be delighted.

Edited for you mate. So, would 250k do you? Surely it has got to be 5m minimum? I think you have to factor into the equation that Jones won't be going if Crouch does and (imo) there's a monetary element there (although that figure would be hugely debatable). Crouch wont be worth anything next summer and 'Arry wont want him then anyway. I don't think any other Premiership manager would give us for £5 mil for Crouch either then or now.

www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/chris-samba-deal-breaks-the-bank-at-qpr-8474001.htmlRedknapp is still counting on signing a new striker today, most likely West Bromwich Albion's Peter Odemwingie, a long-standing target who expressed his disaffection with his current situation over the weekend.
Peter Crouch is the second option, a player who has been with Redknapp at three different clubs in four different spells. However, QPR are hopeful that Bobby Zamora, a late substitute against Manchester City on Tuesday, can become a regular again, and Redknapp regards him as too similar a player to Crouch to have both.
Crouch, 31, has two years left on his contract at Stoke City after this season and is one of the club's highest-paid players. The proposed deal would involve Jamie Mackie going to Stoke along with £4m. Odemwingie has another year left on his contract after this season and West Bromwich have rejected two offers from QPR already.

It's starting to sound like it's not happening, though? Odemwingie the fav? Not sure, mate. Isn't the talk that Albion aren't going to play ball? I suspect we will which I'm not that fussed about as long as we aren't considering Mackie and we have a replacement in mind.

www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/queens-park-rangers/9838369/QPR-ready-to-splash-20m-on-transfer-deadline-day-in-battle-for-Premier-League-survival.htmlStoke City were on Wednesday night anticipating a bid in the region of £6million for Crouch, who can expect to see his wages rise from around £50,000 a week should he join Redknapp for the fifth time in his career.
The striker, 32 on Wednesday, is tempted by the prospect of resuming his relationship with Redknapp, for whom he played at Portsmouth, Tottenham and Southampton.
Stoke rejected an earlier bid of £3million plus Jamie Mackie but expect QPR to return with an improved offer. Should Crouch go, manager Tony Pulis will seek to replace him with Darren Bent, out of favour at Aston Villa and subjected to a fresh humiliation on Tuesday night when he was substituted at half-time in the 2-1 defeat by Newcastle.

Dorsett update:
Crouch shown turning up at Stoke training ground as normal " indicating any deal has a lot of work left to do"
Dorsett says his sources "close to Tony Pulis" accept that it makes sense to let him go at the right price at this time, given his age

www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/Transfer-deadline-day-live-blog-latest-Stoke-City/story-18011373-detail/story.html"At the moment Crouch looks more likely to leave than Jones but it is not a given that either will go. I understand Crouch is not keen to leave Stoke and City have rejected QPR's opening offer."
Sentinel sources: Pulis has been waiting on an early morning phone call from 'Arry but he is not desperately keen to sell Crouch.
"Swansea target" Kenwyne Jones has just arrived for training at Clayton Wood. The striker was linked with a move to Turkey earlier this week, too.

Dorsett less so, from previous windows I would say that he knows very little re our transfers but he seems a nice bloke so I feel harsh slating him.

Harry cited as not wanting to let the "hard working" Mackie go?
Is that only after we told you we don't want him H?
I actually think it's dead simple with Harry, they should only ever interview him (&TP for that matter) when they are wired up for a polygraph.
It could then flicker along the bottom of the screen like the old clapo'meter on Opportunity Knocks. (Google it you youngsters )
