Did anybody here his comments last night regarding the Godfather of Footy, Mr Blatter?
Blatter yesterday insisted that the Prem should be reduced to 16 teams, max 18, and that the League Cup/FA Cup should take a back seat with no replays etc so as not to 'overtire' our poor football players.
(This is the guy thats obsessed with introducing an extra competition in the World Club Championship from next year and want the World Cup held every two years... - He also pointed out that the 'extra' dates freed up could be used for international fixtures - So whats the point!)
Sam basically said (I quote..!)
Interviewer: What do you think of Mr Blatters comments
Sam: Who's he? Whats he ever done in football? The man doesn't know what he's talking about...
Then went on a rant about how wank FIFA are!
He should manage England one day, but comments like that may send him down the Cloughie road.
Its true what he said though! Football is being run by one mans obsession with changes for the sake of it and to glorify himself.
If he actually bothered to speak to football supporters, he would find that most would rather see their own team play each week than watch international friendlies etc - Its fine if the games have meaning, but whats the point in using 22 players for a kickaround? They may as well play at the local park or hold a training camp..
The sooner Blatter is gone the better - Its a shame Leonard Johansson couldn't get rid of him last time with the UEFA coup, which was fended off with some very dodgy looking last minute change of hearts by some of the African & American votes. FIFA is corrupt to the core, and one man leads the way...People should stand up before he ruins club football! Without club football, there is no national team.
(Realises its still quite early for a rant and goes back to his cup of tea. Bloody computer problems at work forced me to come in at 6am!)

No, I didn't see the interview but I agree with what Allardyce said. Blatter is the corrupt genius who does more to give football a bad name that anyone. I say genius because you have to be one to come out with what he does and keep a straight face. Your post sent me to the league tables to remind myself just how many clubs there were in each league (20 Prem and 24 in all Divs of the Nationwide) and something odd struck me. Why do all our leagues have an even number of teams? Whenever there is talk (like now) of cutting the Prem they always talk about a cut to 18 or 16 why not 19 or 17? Weird? ;D

If they had an odd number then one team could have a 'rest week' at least twice a season...
Mind you, they would probably use it to jet off to some far flung location to play in an exhibition match for money!
Winter break my arse!

Yes, I suppose that is the reason. I suppose most managers would welcome a break occasionally but they would all claim that their team's breaks came at precisely the wrong time - best leave things as they are! ;D

Yeah, four clubs are really going to take being dumped into the Football League lying down aren't they? Can't see it happening, you'll be talking about court cases here, FOUR clubs just being told they have to leave the Premiership and all its money and go into the Football League with its new whopping £150,000 a season TV deal?
Blatter should get real.

I think if it ever happened Dave, we'd soon see a Premiership Div 2 created and possibly a proposal for a maximum of one relegation from Prem 2 to the Division below - plus minimum ground size/crowd figures for admission to Prem 2. The knock on effects would be devastating - that's probably why Blatter wants it.

Twatter announced he was standing down in 2006 then appeared to change his mind. His biggest challenger has been Hayatou form Africa (Nigeria?) but he's not much better. The bloke from Asia talks most sense but would he be corrupted if he reached office?

The whole thing is full of backhanders and favours for votes.
If you look around (FIFA, IOC (thats the Olympic Committee for you numptys ;D), the European Parliament, Governments around the world eg Italy/Berlisconni) you will see that those in power are corrupt to the core, and the frontmen are often puppets of those that really do run things behind the scenes. The 'frontmen' lead lives of luxury, draining the taxpayers/paying customers dry while they jet all over the world claiming ludicrous expenses and given 'gifts' in return for votes.
The ethic of sport? I think not!
Perhaps the FA (another gravy train...) should take control of matters again. And fuck there own parasites (Coates...are you listening...) off.
