It did look like something had potentially gone awry somewhere along the line with the radio silence for the last week.
You would maybe have expected a "signed pending work permit" in the last few days.

Austin spent some time training with us, didn't he?
Speaking optimistically, perhaps it's the MLS being funny about him being contracted?

Oh Everton! Please just fuck off.
At least we know he's aright if Moyes is interested

Twitter news earlier today suggested all was done just pending a permit hearing on 3rd August.
Hoping that's the case as I think he'll be decent

Well if he watched how we just played in the 2nd half he will probably think twice about joining anyway.

Wouldn't be a surprise given the lack of announcement...? www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/263897/Johnny-all-set-for-Heit-conversion/In preparation for Heitinga’s departure, Everton are trying to hijack Stoke’s deal for US international Geoff Cameron, 27, who plays for Houston Dynamos.
Stoke have already agreed a £1.6m fee, but Moyes is now showing interest. Heitinga, 28, has two years left on his £55,000-a-week contract, but Fenerbahce are ready to give him a pay rise.
If true someone needs there arse kicking for not sealing the deal in respect to personal terms.

I read permit hearing is on the 3 rd aug12. The deal is done I'd assume, if there is a date fixed for the permit hearing, that Stoke consider the deal done. BUT that means nothing unless Cameron and the MLS have SIGNED A DEAL subject to a work permit being issued. Beswicks are handling the transfer and they are pretty good so I assume that they have covered all bases. Fingers crossed!

yanks-abroad.com/content.php?mode=show&id=9248Aug 3rd was described as a "tentative date" in this unofficial article. Still seems a bit odd that there hasn't been any "signed, pending permit" articles, or even hints in the Sentinel that it was effectively sealed The same article says Cameron was due to fly to England last Friday. It'd be interesting to know if that happened. It doesn't look like it. There doesn't seem to have been any sightings of him in Columbus. Something seems a bit off with this complete official silence. It could be that the Star have just plucked his name out of the air as a cheap link with Everton due to the vague links with him a month or so back, but you couldn't totally rule out a late move if they've had some money freed up by Cahill and now potentially Heitinga. And it's not unthinkable Cameron could be leaving his options open if he hasn't signed anything binding.

There must be some sort of written agreement that he will join stoke city,if his permit is granted. There is little point in him joining stoke city until the permission is given. We know he has not met the number of games for America due to injury. seemed not to be a major issue.

Adrian Heath's opinion on Cameron in today's Sentinel... t.co/R0hddEvBJust realised Heath could be a double agent. Strange how us and Everton are the two clubs keen on Cameron. Coincidence? I think not! ;D

If it was Inchy that gave the initial tip to Tone, as he says, it's pretty clear why Tone's ears pricked up... Sweet music to the Pulis ears www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/Stoke-City-Geoff-Cameron-tipped-star-Potters-old/story-16589870-detail/story.html"He's got all the physical attributes that Tony Pulis likes. He's a big, strong boy and an unbelievable athlete.
"He's very, very quick, has good stamina and is great in the air. He's got an awful lot of strings to his bow.
"No-one will be too big or too strong for him and he will be able to fit straight in."

The pre contract with Cameron is already signed after the transfer fee was agreed. It remains to be seen if this contract is watertight after Everton has allegedly entered the race for his signature. If thats the case, the deal should be announced this week.

If there's any truth in it, Everton would be the more attractive club to most people once MLS have set the figure they're willing to do business at, though?
If we haven't got his signature on a contract yet, we may pay the price for taking so long to haggle over the fee when he was desperate to sign

Wanna bet? You just know that something doesn't seem right at the minute but after all the bartering with the MLS you'd of thought that we now have him pending work permit. That said Tim Howard is a fellow American who might persuade him Everton is the place for him.

At the end of the day if he's the kind of player to make the start of a move before abandoning us to join Everton they are more than welcome to him.
