Doesn't seem 5 mins since we were sweating on whether Triffic Tone would get the Jan award, but more to the point, did anyone else hear the Nationwide chap on TalkSport say that as of next season they are not sponsoring the Football League anymore. It will now be the Coca Cola Football League if I heard him correctly.

Well it certainly won't work as Nationwide does. Eg- "Let's see what has been happening in the Nationwide this weekend..." and "Let's see whats been happening in the Coca Cola this weekend...".
Ah well, more money.

Mmmm, Nationwide had the right feel to it didn't it?. Still, it's £££'s that count these days. As long as the money's going to the right places.

when did FA cup victories get taken into account when the FOOTBALL LEAGUE decide on a manager of the month ?

My thoughts aswell Ilford
If the award is sponsored by Nationwide why take into consideration cup matches,
Or is it my cospiracy theory that for the same rason as Dowie got it last month Wise gets it this month 'cause he's from London and they wont have far to travel to give out the award.

please note Mr Ilford "I dont believe a fucking word Rex" Dave !!!!!!!! Wise choice as Manager of the Month 1 Mar The rise and rise of Millwall has deservedly earned recently appointed player-boss Dennis Wise the February Nationwide League Manager of the Month award. Under Wise, who took over from the departed Mark McGhee is mid-October, the Lions are undefeated in 2004 having played 10 League and Cup matches. February was a tremendous month for Wise’s team, who won four and drew one of their five League games while also winning two FA Cup ties. Now they have an FA Cup quarter-final against second division Tranmere Rovers to look forward to as well as a crack at promotion to the Premiership. During February they climbed from 10th up to fifth place in the table and look set fair to claim a place in the end of season promotion play-offs. A delighted Wise said: "The lads have become a very close knit group who get on well and want to accomplish things together. "It’s great to have reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, but our priority is the League and our aim is to reach the play-offs." still dont believe me? www.nationwide.co.uk/football/common/divstory.asp?T_ID=div1&ID=70186&W=0

And a version for pricey super stokie and co ;D Well one is awfully sorry Mr Richards old chap, but one would not say that Mr Wise had received the award on the basis of Millwalls two FA cup wins without having heard it on ones radio in the Van this morning whilst on the M11/A414 roundabout, One has just been to the Nationwide website where the following is on there. Wise choice as Manager of the Month 1 Mar The rise and rise of Millwall has deservedly earned recently appointed player-boss Dennis Wise the February Nationwide League Manager of the Month award. Rex,
It was you that told me not to swear becase it just means you can't put what you want to say into context.
Yet again, utter rubbish from yourself!
And furthermore, I have never said that I mind you using colourful language or poor English have I?

To be quite honest I could not give a monkeys who wins the award except when the incumbant manager of the mighty potters deserves it. But the last two awards of the div 1 MOM need explaining. Jan, Manager (1) rearange's a fixture against a team in relegation turmoil to fill in a blank week because they are knocked out of the cup and play one more fixture than the entire division result played 4 won 3 drew 1 points 10 out of 12 or if you like a yield of 83%
Manager (2) His team wins all fixtures sheduled in the League PLAYED 3 WON 3 YIELD 100%
Surely it's not possible to do better than 100% ?
Manager 1 wins award
Feb
3 managers finish the month with an identical record 3 wins and 1 draw, the manager with the worst goal difference wins the award because his team won 2 FA cup matches against Burnley and wait for it Telford
Logical ain't it ;D

Polo, I was only answering the question. It doesnt mean to say I think its logical either, but Mr Richards scorned my post saying it was because of two FA cup wins as though I had made it up. My opinion is also that it should be just for Nationwide games as well. But someone couldnt wait to have a dig at my comment and just jumped straight in without checking the facts. Yet I am now probably the bad person because I posted the facts straight from the nationwide pages.
[edit] so by your reasoning then Polo, if a manager only has one league game in a month and wins it, then that obviously would produce a 100% record, if that manager is the only one to have a 100% record does that mean he should be MOM ? ;D

Spot on Polo. Including the FA Cup in the MOM calculations is plain daft - winning FA cup games is satisfaction in itself and has little or nowt to do with League form. One day we'll see the Premiership award decided between two teams where the winner gets the prize for beating a conference side in the cup whilst the runner up "only" managed to draw against Chelsea in the cup . ???
PS - I didn't read Polo's post as criticising you in any way, Rex - nor is mine

While I think Rex, you are taking it to an extreme with your 1 match 100 % theory, this could possibly be a situation in a long cold winter. Especially if your team is Crwho and cant be arsed to protect your pitch, but that's another story.
I t still seems strange to me when a managers team wins all of his scheduled matches in the month in question and still does not win the award !
C'est la vie, n'est pas ?
