I was on my way to Hodnet, taking the scenic route to Grimsty Road!
So I only wasted 40 minutes of travelling time, but it was such a lovely day! ideal for a football match nearly everywhere else in the bloody country except at a ground that boasts some of the best facilities in the country yet can't afford a bloody cover for the pitch to combat the weather that was forecast last MONDAY!
Imho, there was no attempt to get the game played! another case of 'legal cheating'
I can remember games played at the Vic when you could only see the pitch where the snow had been removed away from the touch lines, centre circle and penalty areas and we witnessed games, good games, with a lovely orange ball!
A very very poor state of affairs indeed!
I hope Monica enjoyed her guided tour of Dario Land !

I was sat in sunny Plymouth in front of my computer having made what turned out to be the very sensible decision not to risk a long journey for a game which Crewe appeared to have little interest in trying to get played. There has to be some sort of enquiry by the FA/League about this sort of thing. Sunderland (where there had been a blizzard and the approach roads and paths were snowed up) have a decent excuse - but in the 21st century games should not be called off for frost which had been forcast for several days. There simply is NO excuse and exiles who chose to travel will be out of pocket by £thousands - ironically more money than it would have cost to ensure the game was played.

Me and MKStokie decided to sit in Weatherspoons in Stoke until we had confirmation either way. Had the game been on we'd have caught the 1.23 train from Stoke station. As it was, we went to Hanley and did a bit of shopping Out of interest, what's the policy on refunds in this situation? There's a very good chance I won't be able to make the rearranged game

We were enjoying a well earned drink in the Rising Sun somewhere in the sunny Cheshire countryside, having arrived in Crewe at 11.30.
Wonderful day for a football game too.

On the train just passed Wolverhampton. Me , me 2 kiddies , Polly & Andy. We carried on to Crewe anyway so we could meet up with Polly's other half in the bank. Along way to go for a few pints & fish & chips. Not a sign of any snow or frost in Crewe. THE GAME SHOULD'VE BEEN ON!

Was out a a friends place for a meal. I told my friends that the game might be off and they replied that it would have to be on as in this day and age its ludicrous for a professional sporting club to have to postpone because of a snowy pitch, and that if a game has to be postponed they should face a heavy penalty of some sort. I agreed the game would have to be played.
Of course I got home switched on the computer and er.... Just thought its ludicrous that in this day and age a professional sporting club have to postpone because of a snowy pitch and they should face a penalty of some sort.

In my front room with radio and long-john's on. Knowing full well I hade made more effort for the game than Crewe.
We see people on the telly shovelling snow at Sunderland even though it looked like a lost cause. Yet at Crewe a boiling kettle in each corner of the pitch would have probably defrosted the pitch (especially with those big stands to keep the heat from the steam in).
At least I know that I'll be able to make the replay with it being so close down the road.
The question however remains that if the game wasn't already a sell-out and Crewe had to rely on people travelling a fair distance midweek instead would this have been postponed?

DAVEC_SCFC (& anyone else who cannot make the rearranged fixture) - if you cannot make it once you know the date, leave me a message, as I would happily pay for 2 or 3 tickets that may be available. I was at stag-do this weekend, so couldnt go to the original fixture. Oh, and I do have an ID card.

Was at Derby station when I found out the game was off.
Hopped straight back on a train to Sheffield and had the 'pleasure' of sharing the carriage with a load of Bristol City fans travelling up to Hillsborough. They were drinking lots of cider, singing lots of songs about cider and all agree that Goodfellow is an average player at best.
