You could clearly see him call Dean a prick after his red card when in reality he's the prick.
Also wouldn't be surprised if the FA give him a 4 match ban as he kept on and on even after the red.

yes he said "what a prick" to Mike Dean and sarcastically applauded the red card!

What was he sent off for? (the second yellow) No it was a straight red he kept on at Dean for ages and he had enough and sent him away.

Did anyone see the excitable way Dean flashed the red card though?
Correct decision or not, I hate to see any ref getting a kick out of sending someone off.
It adds to the doubt over the many red cards he's loved handing out to our players over the years.

Cant be arsed to find it on the site or utube but if you want proof of how much he hates us have a look at the wigan game where we drew 2-2 and watch how he begrudgingly awards our goals and almost celebrates theirs, also wilkos red at pompey is laughable and didnt he send deano off for two fouls v spurs yet let krankjar get away with dozens and booked him in in injury time.

Whenever there is a referee chant at the Brit, he either stares at the fans like we're moronic or pretends to yawn. This isn't how an official is supposed to act. Winds me up, just like when linesmen laugh and shake their heads when they're getting some stick. Get on with your jobs.

The way he goes about his business is a pisser! But the decisions are more often than not, piss-poor! Makes me laugh though, the idiot is like a kid at christmas...... I remember him awarding us a peno earlier in the season, he turned away, jumped 180* 3ft in the air and thwarted his arm out like voldemort to signal it! He is never right in a million years! But he is an absolute cunt of the finest standing, totally inept as an official! anyone???

That 'game' demonstrated why referees tables are a nonsense. Forget who it was, as anyone i/c of that rabble would have been forced to do likewise (therefore losing points in the table) or ended up with complete mayhem and how lucky were Sunderland that it was not shown on Sky, to a greater audience!
Managers out of control, (though Pardew did apologise) 21 players forming an unruly group to surround the ref and a captan red carded, but 89 minutes later than deserved.
Why do so many of the media think that we're the worst team, re disclipline? Bigotry rules.
"The frenzied day when an entire region lost its mind." Yes, The Daily Mail got it right on this occasion.

I agree with the Dowd way of reffing. If the players use foul language to the ref then they get told to "f**k off" in return and a promise that if they do it again they'll be "leaving the f**king field".
Quickly stamps out the "handbags at 10 paces" the players like to dish out to officials.

Anybody else think that Tiote should have been booked for his over reaction to the elbow. The elbow itself was nothing special and caught Tiote on the chest. Tiote, at first, brushed it off and then a second or two later realised it was an opportunity to get the guy sent off. If the sending off was warranted then I think the least the ref should have done was book Tiote. These are exactly the kind of incidents that refs should review the following day and issue retrospective reds to those who have been found to be conning the ref.

Tiote has had 2 broken eyelashes and a filling done only recently. He was entitled to go down when he remembered the trauma his face has been through recently, if only so he could get his dentist on the field and have it checked over for peace of mind. Yes, he should have been booked.

ESPN summarisers were Keown and Keegan and after the match they were absolutely hammering Keiron Richardson for the Newcastle Goal, saying what terrible defending it was, he was the one who'd cost Sunderland with his poor positioning.
I thought this was a bit harsh as Richardson had been subbed for Bridge 5 minutes earlier, but Keown and Keegan obviously don't share the same sympathetic view.
As for Mike dean, he got the two Penalties correct in my opinion however I missed the Sessegnon red card so can’t comment. I thought he got the Cattermole decision wrong with his first tackle. There is no way he is playing the ball there, it’s two footed and he’s out of control – That is a straight red if it’s 15 minutes to the game so why are the rules different in the first minute?

In my opinion is one of the best derbies in europe when its played properly like sunday because the 2 clubs, managers and fans genuinely hate each other and on games like yesterday it spills onto the pitch.
Just wish Roker Park was still up.

Cattermole is a thick bastard though, will he ever learn?

Cattermole is THE dirtiest player in Prem, by some distance. I hear people saying will he ever learn ? Probably ! He is Sunderlands MOM most weeks and generally runs himself into the ground. But my point is this : He has captained Middlesborough. Transfered to Wigan and became their captain. Transfered to Sunderland and became their captain. So how old is this "old dog " who cannot learn new tricks ? He has just turned 23yrs old ! He's a kid still and still learning his trade, 1 as a footballer and 2 as a captain. I would love him in our side, oh, and I bet he would become captain straight away if he did come here !! I like the young kid but he still has scope for loads to learn. Just my "old man" opinion !

Strange how the Sunderland fans have piped down again since we rightfully regained our place above them in the league, isn't it?

Fair points. I think people sometimes forget just how young he is. Shouldn't have had a go at the ref like he did. He gave a brilliant captain's performance until the final whistle. He is the biggest victim of his reputation, not because it gets him more cards than he probably should get, but because it overshadows what a fine footballer he actually is.

We have a couple of players in the same ilk, Captain...young, require mentoring, discipline and organisation.
Because of those requirements, we'll either never see them play first team football or they'll play blindly and look shit!

He's a very handy player but unfortunately has a nasty streak a mile wide. Galls me when Sunderland fans slate us for being crude when they have arguably the PL's most cynical player captaining their side.

Certainly in his Sunderland career he has never been sent off for violent conduct either. He is more stupid than anything else. Doesn't know when to leave a ball uncontested, but he is improving a huge amount under O'Neill.
