I believe that in the broad range of cake possibilities fruit cake is deeply underrated. What do you think?

I wish i had a huge block of marzipan now Sal to go with me beer. I,ve had a fair bit of wedding cake in my short life........ Me dad used to be a mobile DJ (Loony Lenz Disco!) in the early 90's and i'd go with him every Saturday night to wedding receptions etc he'd do!

If you think the fruit cake is a bit too dry put some custard on it.

Patta cake Fruit cake is puke whereas marzipan is bloody lovely. Why not just make wedding cakes out of marzipan and icing??? If you go to Morrisson's on Festival Park, they do a cake there that they do nowhere else in the world called a "Festival Pie", which is like, a small amount of sponge, then some cream, and then a massive layer of marzipan over the top with a shitload of sugar chucked on it. Quality.

Soicowboy, you've obviously forgotten the magic of an oatcake.
Treacle sponge and custard is the definitive confection in the field of cakeage though.
