Geoff: such terrible news for your whole family. His wife and kids must be devastated. I know a little of what they are going through: my dad died suddenly of a heart attack at 51 too - I was the eldest of 6 children at 18. Although it happened many years ago now, your post brought back so many memories. You and your family are in my thoughts today - and I do hope you get through the difficult next few weeks. All best wishes Thanks mate, really appreciate you sharing that with me. You're welcome mate. Just do what has to be done for your sis and her kids - and I'm sure you will. My dad was a vicar and the church gave my poor old mum 3 months to get out of the house - although the bishop came to do the funeral!! No hypocrisy there then. Hope things are a bit better for your family, but you stay in my thoughts. We'll be with you...... Take care: all best - Ben

Geoff
Unless there is a massive (and very sad) co incidence, I guess your brother in law is Richard M, whose sudden death I heard about yesterday? He coached my lad's football team (his eldest is in the team too) and was a lovely bloke. I last spoke to him away at Ellesmere on the Sunday Gary Speed died, we spent much of the match discussing it (thereby missing a narrow 5-0 defeat for Tigers). My heart goes out to your sister and the kids (and the rest of the family). RIP Richie.
PH, Norton in Hales
PS. Didn't realise he used to support Spurs!

Yes, PCBA and PH, the brother-in law is / was Richard M.
He was never a passionate Spurs fan, in fact I don't think he really got passionate about football until he started watching Stoke and then he had that same passion for the boys as they got into football and was very much a hands on dad when it came to his boys playing football.
Ironic that it's Stoke v Spurs this weekend!

We can be a load of numpties but we're still one big family and very caring I hadn't told the children about the this thread, but they had found it themselves and have been reading it regularly and updating their mum on the kind comments posted. It was really good to hear them quoting some of the comments posted. Some good hearted Potters have really done some good, thank you one and all!!!

Geoff
My lad plays in Connor's Tigers team so he only needs to ask if he needs a lift anytime, particularly for the long distance away games if Jane isn't going - same for Stoke home games, though I know Connor used to go with Richard (we used to bump into them quite alot, though they don't sit near us) and I'm not sure how that's going to work now? Anything I can do to help, in terms of transport etc, won't be a problem.
Of course, Peter Hampton isn't my real name - Connor will know me as "Max's Dad". We only live about 3 miles away from Loggerheads.
Cheers
PH (aka Richard Jones)

For Stoke games Richard and I took it in turns to drive and we took his 2 boys and my son, Jane would go when Richard or I couldn't make it. I'll be taking the boys as soon as they are ready to go, we'll play it by ear. Tigers might be more difficult as the 2 boys play in different teams and more often than not play at different venues, so good to know you could help out if they are stuck. To know they can count on you and others in the Tigers fold is really comforting for Jane. Thank you again for your kind words and support. Cheers Jerome

Geoff/Jerome
Not sure whether Jane has my contact details (though I think Richard did) - PM me if you want phone no/ e mail address etc. I think Connor and Max are facebook friends too.
Either my wife, Sue or I attend pretty well all the Tigers games, home and away, so a lift wouldn't be a problem for Connor. We miss the odd one if we're going away as a family.
Thanks
Peter/Richard

RIP fellow Stokie.
I always hate seeing these threads, and there seem to have been so many recently, but it is always good to see folk pulling together to help out the families if needed.
Best wishes to your sister and the kids.
