ELO were an absolutely brilliant band, they had so many hit singles yet there are so many real gems on their albums. Grossly underrated in my opinion.
In response to Rebellious Jukebox, ELO are number 49 in the all time top 500 (based on weeks in the chart) in the Guiness Book of British Hit Singles and Albums so I guess a few people liked them.

Since when did being in the pop charts = quality? Sorry, we're just going to have to disagree about ELO - you obviously love them, and I don't (although I am perfect )

I like ELO too.
Diary of Horcace Wimp and Dont Walk Away. Both superb songs!
My first ever memory is listening to Living Thing while sat on me dads knee in about 1977 when i was about 2.

Must admit, my sister embroidered [glow=red,2,300] ELO[/glow] to the back of myDenium jacket. Can't understand why people were taking the piss out of me at the Motorhead concert. ;D

JEFF LYNNE did live on Menorca for several years before moving to Mallorca. I went in his old house and it had a massive avery in the lounge. Very very strange.

Since when did being in the pop charts = quality? said Rebellious (and boy isn't he rebellious ;D)
#1 in the charts is Elvis Presley #2 Cliff Richard #3 Beatles #4 Queen #5 Madonna #6 Elton John #7 Shadows #8 David Bowie #9 Michael Jackson #10 U2
Surely this confirms that being in the charts = quality?
Er perhaps with the exception of Cliff... ;D

A very subjective term. Admittedly, some of my musical tastes are minority tastes, but so be it.

Joe, you are quite correct. Jasper Carrot also had a villa here for many years and the band and Jasper were popular with the locals.
Several years ago they all sold up and went to the bright lights of Mallorca.
I was told that Bevan and Carrot have a production company together. Not sure if thats true or not.

John Lennon once said (in the 70's) that if the Beatles hadn't split they probably would have sounded something like ELO.
With hindsight, I'm not sure he was being entirely complimentary.
