Don't know why people are slating woody, give him a bloody chance, he's played well and been unlucky :s The problem for Woodgate I think is that the standard of our centre-backs is very, very, very high and the competition for places is cut throat. Upson has been impressive, Shawcross has once again been magnificent and we know from last season that Huth is an exceptionally talented centre back. Woodgate had a couple of good games, but then looked very, very ropey against Norwich and Sunderland. If he's not at the very peak of his game when he plays, he's going to fall down the pecking order for a lot of supporters very quickly. I'm still of the opinion that it should be Huth and Shawcross.

Yes I agree. People just seem to be slating woodgate for him being put there instead of huth. At the end of the day if anyone's to blame it's TP but he obviously knows what he is doing

We have 4 very, very good centre halves and its the managers decision on who he thinks is best suited to play tomorrow.
Personally, based on recent performances I'd opt for Shawcross & Upson. Both have looked very good together in recent games. I hate seeing Huth at right back and we all know how good he is at centre half but we must not underestimate the performances of Upson in recent games.
Failing that would a 5-3-2 system be out of the question for tomorrow with Huth-Upson-Shawcross and wilko and wilson as wing backs????? Palacios in the centre of mid with Ethers and Walters????? worth a try possibly

I think everyones getting influenced by the Shawcross/ woodgate shambles last sunday. Prior to that woodgate has looked top drawer in each appearance he's made. I would play them again tomorrow with Huth and Wilson - they've all got a point to prove and I think they'll do it. Upson has been top drawer aswell and will play on thursday in any event. Over the next few games it will become apparent who the top pair are and I trust TP to pick those two for the Prem matches. He knows about defenders and he's signed a couple of pearls for nowt. ( fitness prevailing )

my team for saturday would be bego wilko huth shawcross upson pennant whelan delap etherington crouch walters we need a back four who will get in their faces especially how their form is in recent games whilst we still have the two crossers and crouch for the hight needed to even try get a goal past these lot Not a bad team however, Id swap Upson for Huth and play Palacious over Delap. Also, Wilson to stick at LB SGS
