mmmmmmmmm...............just mentioned on ESPN as a possibility for next year , not so sure myself.
Big pay day for both I presume.
Lennox says Ricky should retire or a re-match with Mayweather but doesn't reckon he's perhaps good enough.
See what happens.

Hatton isn't up to the task. He's a one trick pony. I think he should retire gracefully.

Perhaps he’d stand a good chance against both Mayweather or De La Hoya if it was on British soil with a ref that would allow him to fight on the inside a bit and not keep breaking them apart every time he got close. I don’t agree he should retire, it’s 1 defeat after all how many set backs did Duran have and he was one of the greatest ever boxers. GPG Gouranga.

Duran fought other great boxers though...Hatton has only fought one, and even that is arguable.!
(Unlike Calzaghe who can change his tactics and technique at will....)

Duran was also completely broke Albert -fought into his fifties
Agree Duran one of the all-time greats, that's the difference between him and Hatton.
The ref was a bit harsh but he was well beaten Albert by a far superior fighter

I’m not saying Hatton is another Duran or that he wasn’t well beaten. I do think he’d be ill advised to retire after just one defeat, all great fighters pick themselves up off their arses and fight again with a point to prove. I recall everyone writing off Lennox Lewis after being TKO’d by McCall and knocked out by Rahman, the rest is history. GPG Gouranga.

Im still gutted Hatton lost, you have to feel for him but losing to Mayweather is no disgrace, the ref did Hatton no favors what so ever, i would like to note that the ref was a yank, i wonder if the English booing the star spangled banner had an effect on his performance ? ive seen that ref before and he doesn't normally do that, but from the very start of the fight he kept splitting them up which played into mayweathers game plan perfectly and totally ruined Hattons, awful ref imo, but there is no doubt mayweather is an outstanding boxer, his accuracy is unbelievable. One of the major problems boxers have with Mayweather is hitting him cleanly, Hatton threw some 370+ shots and only landed around 60, that shows you where it went wrong, Hatton had no trouble getting on the inside but once there he still couldn't touch mayweather due to Mayweather truning that shoulder and sometimes out right turning his back on Hatton, i think if someone can work out how to hit him they'd have some success, it's as if he has some type of sheild around him.
If Hatton fought De La Hoya i fear the same out come, de La Hoya is to big for him.

I was listening to Hatton's interview last night and on Talk Sport today and what really worries me is how hard he has taken the loss. Not only is he disappointed with himself he also thinks that he has let everyone down and that is a hard thing to get over. He will bounce back and I think once he has taken stock retirement will be off the cards. Few more fights will see him back again but he will also struggle trying to get the weight right meaning proper nutrition and missing meals. Go on lad I'm still proud of yer.

There's no disgrace in losing to Mayweather. Hatton maybe one of the best, but he came up against 'the best' in Mayweather. The ref didn't help matters i agree but i don't think it affected the result too much.
The first two rounds Hatton seemed good, however, as the fight went on it became obvious Mayweather had him in his back pocket. Eventually Hatton knew he would have to go for the knockout and it was only a matter of time before Mayweather landed the telling shot to finish the match.
Mayweather was awesome in every department, his attacks were timed and deadly, his defence was unbeatable and his speed was second to none.
I don't think Hatton should retire, he's only lost one match after all. It's how he moves on from this now that will decide how great he was.
Mayweather on the other hand doesn't need to fight again, he's earned his money and dominated every level he's been at. He is the best pound for pound fighter in the world, no doubt.

I don't think Hatton let anyone down either but if you spend your career building up to fighting the best and then losing against the best you have 2 options. You fight him again or retire, where else can you go? As mayweather says IF he fights again it won't be for 2 years I can't see any alternative i'm afraid.
