Very raw this, still, but as is tradition with our regular posters I would just like to say after your sudden passing yesterday whilst on holiday in north wales aged 77 that "i love you dad".
Season ticket holder for years sitting with his son (me) and his new season ticket, just delivered, won't get used by him this year.
I have lost my best mate without having the chance to say goodbye.
It's a hard thing to take especially as I have been by your side with your battle against cancer (unrelated to passing) for the last 18 months every step of the way.
At least you got the chance to see stoke in the top league again which I know you thought you would never see again.
I will look after mum I promise.
I know when stoke walk out against Chelsea and we'll be with you is played and I look down to see you not there it will never be the same and I will be in bits. I just hope the lads perform on that day and every other day for you because I will be asking them to for every game from now on.
Russ x

My Dad died a couple of months ago and I did a similar thread, i was surprised as it did help a little.
It sounds like you had a good relationship with your Dad, it's a great comfort to me to remember all the times, good and bad we spent following Stoke . In time I'm sure you will think the same way.
My thoughts are with you, RIP fellow Stokie.

Russ, Very sorry to hear about your Dad. It seems impossible at the moment I know, but try to remember the great times and the fact that you obviously had so many of them. He obviously had a loving family and like you say, he saw his beloved Stoke back in the big-time. My Dad just missed that! I have said before on similar threads that: Our lives are shaped not by what we carry with us, but by what we leave behind. Your post alone demonstrates that he has obviously left a great deal behind. Be proud of what he has given you and others and thankful for the time that you had together. My thoughts are with you and your family. Madasasnake.

Your all wonderful and believe me I do gain strength from it. I'm know there were three places he would have wanted to die one was at his caravan in wales which he did, the other two would been at stoke and on the bowling green. I just wish I could have held his hand when he was in that short period of suffering.
