I'll let Mark tell you about David, but I don't think he's signed anywhere yet because he was playing a trial game for Oldham, then got injured.
I saw Foster, Hedley and a few others on the squad list for Nantwich Town, so they might have signed there.

I saw Foster, Hedley and a few others on the squad list for Nantwich Town, so they might have signed there. David is indeed currently injured (knee) which was unfortunate timing - two weeks after his contract at Stoke ran out and hours before he was due to sign for a club. Stoke are very kindly assisting in getting him back to fitness and hopefully he should be sorted presently. Of the others I understand Alex (Hedley) has the offer of a trial with Yoevil (I think) although he has signed forms for Nantwich. Also signed on a forms basis is Zac (Foster) and maybe Cameron (Mitchel). i believe Leighton Wint also had a similar offer but the release from Stoke has demotivated him some what. The lads need to get themselves in the shop window and playing anywhere. It is an incredibly difficult situation to be in at the moment for an 18 year old with little experience. Clubs obviously give priority to their own potential graduates and the clubs outside of the Prem are more than skint. This means they are all cutting back squads to the bone and even seasoned pros cant get a club. Managers obviously tend with a reduced squad size to prefer to take a known quantity than a wet behind the ears kid. Many 18 year olds who were released during the summer are going to have to take more of a step backwards than they might like to get a game but that is the way forward in the present climate. Any of them getting a pro contract at the moment are doing very well. Many will have to go semi-pro or even less whilst building experience if they still want to make a living from football.

Took the daughter to her first stoke match this afternoon to see the Academy at Kidsgrove Athletic. Amongst a very average crowd of 330 odd but she enjoyed it so it worked for me.
Stoke were winning 2-0 when I left with a few minutes to go but Kidsgrove scored as I was walking back to the car so I think it ended 2-1.
Michael Clarkson scored after half an hour and Smajl Suljevic got the second after a good run & shot from the lad playing left midfield was parried. To be fair Kidsgrove had plenty of chance to score and whilst its early in the season I can't say I was too impressed, Lewis Moult up front virtually on his own at times had some good moments but we didn't get bodies forward enough to support him (familiar away from home story - must be training them to fit into the first team formation!). However when we did pass the ball around they looked comfortable on the ball, both Dawson & Suljevic had some impressive moments in the centre of midfield. The ginger lad at left back (Hall?) looked strong, confident on the ball and got forward well at times. The big lad at centre half was busy in the air all day and was strong for a young lad up against the old warrior Kinsey. Should have written down the players names when they were read out but was fighting with Dolly Mixtures at the time (first bribe of the afternoon!).
Hopefully will get to see them again later in the season for a better reflection on their true ability.
btw who is the youngish academy coach (30'ish) which black hair who has PW on his training gear?

Louis* Moult Manny Parry will be the big black lad at center half. Hall is the Ginger LB. (Bayern hates him though ;D ) If the Left Mid was black, might of been Omar Holness, a Jamaican trialist. And yeah, finished 2-1. Sad that you didn't see Rossi play, but guess Louis Moult needs fitness.

So once again another 17 players in the Academy didnt get any play time yesterday....too many in squad.. Once the season starts they will organise Tuesday games for those not involved in the Saturday league games. At that age the players should be getting used to the concept of competing for their places in my opinion.

Yes Eve was in goals all game, got down well to one free kick, bravely coming out at the strikers feet another time, looked ok all round & he's certainly the right height for a keeper! The only subs I saw were with about 10 minutes to go when Smajl and Moult went off, a young Benjani look-a-like and a very short lad came on The black lad who can claim an assist for the 2nd goal was this lad Best picture I got of the starting 10 outfield players

I heard from my old teammate back in Bermuda, who is now connected with scouting as well as coaching out there, that we have/had another 16 yr old Bermy (in addition to Dale Eve), a striker on trial. I am told he is speedy and a great finisher (he said a young Jermaine Defoe, but he does like to talk up his kids!!). I will ask for his name and how it went.
