Saw Leslie Crowther @ Jollees. Butter wouldn't melt on CrackerJack but totally blue in the clubs. + remember Les Dawson & Frank Carson!!! Whilst a nippet I saw Tom Cooper and The Grumbleweeds at Jollees in special family shows. Tom Cooper wore a fez. I was at that Grumbleweed show, about 1978 ?

Here's an obscure one: The Zoo. It was opposite the old Tesco in Hanley I think. Not sure when it was opened or when it closed, but it was around late 80's-early 90's. They used to have live (rock) bands on in the basement and it was also pretty busy after gigs at the Viccy Hall.

I used to frequent maxims and tiffs in castle but on the odd occasion we would have a run up boslem into a club called bobo's 90% of its clientele were black[can I say that in a non racist way] never had a problem as one of my mates at the time was from African descent. used to love the funk tunes played there seem to remember going there in the 80s when they had strippers on lol

He said that one half of the club was exactly as you say and the other half was a gay disco
