You can't talk about The Place and not mention Rosie O'Brians. Just stopped in there some nights and not bothered with the Place. Good times.

Club Kinetic in longton them were the days prior to Kinetic it was Shelley's and then Entropy. Sasha used to be resident DJ. The likes of Shock C and Daz Willott were regular DJ's. Legendary Friday nights. Impromptu rave parties were held in Shelleys car park and Keele Services Live.Love.Dance. I worked at Kinetic for three years. I believe that Kinetic is still being promoted in the UK somewhere with the likes of Slipmat, Ratty et al still going. (Although I'm old enough to remember Shelleys as a roller disco and I also saw the Macc Lads play there.)

Regimes used to be good on a Monday night in the early 90's.
I hated the place. Every time I was in there I'd get leathered and get lost every time with all them fucking stairs. Like a game of snakes and ladders (If I remember rightly!)

Loved the Place, would get there nice and early and warm up with a few games of pool and Hyper Olympics in the pub bit, then saunter downstairs for a recce, then boogy to the alternative stuff in the First Place bit, if I had a time machine, sod going back to see what happened to the dinosaurs or who shot Kennedy, it would be straight back to any Friday night between about 1988 and 1992!

The Place holds so many great memories for me - too many to mention
Wondering round pissed, drinking that cheap shit pomagne shite they used to give out, trying to find year mates was impossible. the only bit i didnt like in its latter years was upstairs where they played 'music for the brothers' and it used to kick off every saturday
just rememebered that there used to always be one lad dancing on his own on an empty dancefloor in rosie o'brians on saturday nights

missed out on all the shelleys, the place and the void nights, just too young. so for me it has to be Satchmo's, that place was brilliant on a saturday night and the indie night on mondays was mint as well.

I had a Golden Honorary Membership at The Place for a few years, free entry any night at any time, was brilliant! ;D In it's heyday The Place had to have been one of the best nightclubs in the country imho. I had one of them golden passes. Went in one night with a mate who got us turfed out after half an hour. On the way out they ushered me back in again . He got a life ban and I still don't know what he did. He probably touched up the wrong person

What about Razzmatazz in Longton along with Shelley's. Newcastle use to have Ritzy, Nantwich use to have the Cheshire cat which had a very low roof and Gregory's. Then we had the highway man near to Cheadle and the Wayfarer close to Stone and Renalds in Stafford.

I have vague memories that when I was a kid in the 70s there was a Port Vale bar opposite the spikey man on the Lewis' building in Hanley.
Can anyone confirm this or did I dream it.

It sounds plausible, because when I was a kid some of the old crush barriers were still in place in the car park opposite Lewis's (where the Vale had played before the move to Burslem). Mind you, that also sounds like a dream. And yes, Dr O, there was a Top of the World in Stafford. They also had live music (saw Tom Robinson there) and N Soul I think. I never went, and I wish I had been a bit older, because when I was at school the reputation of The Adulte (Cobridge?) massively preceded it.
