not really a night club, but fat pauly's on the A34 (opposite side of the road to the multi-storey car park) in castle. only place that seemed to serve 14/15 year olds with no questions asked, circa 2002 played my first ever gig there when i was 15. then they got shut down maybe a year later. then it got knocked down after loads of homeless people made it their home.

Saw Elton John & others @ the Heavy Steam Machine. He arrived 3 hours late after a wrangle over £. Kept thinking there were an awful lot of drum rolls at the gig then realised it was the skittles falling in the bowling alley upstairs! Apparently the HSM had the largest dance floor in Europe at one stage.

I had a Golden Honorary Membership at The Place for a few years, free entry any night at any time, was brilliant! ;D We used to get 3 of us in on it regularly with a bit of sleight of hand Inset was owned by John Donnelly at that time, believe he had an equally salubrious establishment in Longton at the same time, can't remember the name of it, down a side street somewhere near Woolies. In it's heyday The Place had to have been one of the best nightclubs in the country imho.
