as Mark and Lard bid farewell. Perhaps pissed off that they were overlooked for the afternoon show in preference to Sara Cox...and so they should be. Sad day...anyone who displays public disapproval of The Stereophonics is alright in my book.

They have been on Radio one for years, well past their sell by date, got a bit tidious and repetative, it was sad that the highlight of the afternoon was having two middleaged men on mainstream youth radio! They needed to go just as Sara Cox does!!!!
Sara Cox is as good as a broken tv!!! Cant believe she is still allowed on!!!
Radio 1 is a joke, the sooner they revamp and get rid of the rubbish djs the better!!!

Sara Cox is wank........very WANK!
she mumbles, and sighs all the time, an absolute toss DJ, then again she is'nt a DJ is she, she just presents the show. They have to get someone with half a brain to play the CD'S.
I thought Mark and Lard were funny aswell..

Yeah mark n lard are funny but some of their stuff gets boring, all my mates hate them! Hope they get a worthy comedy replacement, I suspect its a new duo from Manchester who radio 1 signed last month.
Radcliffe on Radio 2 will be ace too because he wont have as many playlist restrictions, he has the best taste in music!
Coxy should just be shot!

I am officially a radio 2 listener and have been for a couple of years. When I say I am a R2 listener, I mean when I actually get bored of the cds in my car ( never listen to the radio anywhere other than in the car). Zoe Ball was the beginning of the end for me, and as for Sara Cox, well its like someone from Channel 4's faking it has just been forgotten about and they have let her get on with it, bet she cant believe her luck. Mark and Lard were good in their day, and i believe were they to switch to R2 the less restricted play list would revitalise them. As for R1, I would bring in Jonathan Ross in the morning, Phil Jupitus in the afternoon and Cat Deeley for lunch!! and lose the stupid play lists, let them play what they want and accept the odd request, its a novel idea but hey it worked before!!

Personally thought Mark and Lard were wank. Aint gonna miss them one bit. Dunna think they should of moved Moyles off the 3 (or 4) till 6 slot, thought he was pure enertainment in that slot.
Coxxy's alright, think she would be more suited to TV though.
The Zane Lowe show is probabley the best show I've heard on there. The music played on there is fantastic, especially for the younger audience (16-21)

i prefer Talksport myself even when they arent talking about sport, Mike dickin in the morning and James whale at night are quite good but sometimes are a bit shit, suppose it depends what sort of stuff you are into really but the sports shows are excellent IMHO

I haven't listened to Mark and Lard for years but last time they had the afternoon show 'thought they were class. "one man and his frog" and "vague news" - got me through many a tedious afternoon at work.
some good tunes chucked in aswell.
Moyles is fucking awful, I despise that cunt.

I'm absolutely DEVASTATED to hear about Mark an' Lard goin' their separate ways. However, in recent years, the management at Aunty have restricted them constantly...messed them around no end, much like they did another comedy genius in Spike Milligan. Like, when Bannister (or was it Dyke?) stuck them on the breakfast show, thus revoking any license to be themselves. Will never forget their "Out On blue 6" evening shows from their rayjoe 5 days to their 10-midnight slot on rayjoe 1...sheer brilliance, and made listening to the radio enjoyable...distinctly remember the "crack" they used to have with the likes of Dreadzone, Radiohead, Oasis & Blur etc. in the early days of britpop. It broke the mould from the Bruno Brookes, Mark Goodier days and dragged R1 kicking and screaming into the mindset of intelligible youth culture. Their importance cannot be overstated. If it hadn't been for them, you wouldn't have the likes of Moyles (yeah, he's pretty good) on national prime time radio. How Cox is remotely involved in media is beyond me. She has an awful radio "personality"...completely devoid of any humour beyond a bimbo mentality...Moyes resorts to the sheer peurile and self-adulation while M & L underplay their intelligence probably to the extent that the kids just " don't get it ".... you don't have to supply a punchline to make a joke...durr... Bloody WAAAAHHHH!!!

Have to agree, cant stand Moyles, didn't he have a go at Stokies once upon a time? Personally, don't give a fuck wether he had a go at us Stokies once. If you watch some repeats of 'They Think it's all Over' you'll see that Nick Hancock absoutly rips it out of Ade Akinbiyi in his Leicester days. D'ya think that bothers Ade or nick Hancock. What's in the past is history

One of the worst things R1 ever did was to get Zoe Ball doing the breakfast show........
Then they brought in Cox to replace her...WHO IS TEN TIMES WORSE~!!!!

I quite like Pete and Geoff in the morning on Virgin, good music (IMO) and a good laugh, although I did think Mark and Lard were sometimes funny, but the same sketches day after day ware a bit thin.

Mark and Lard and chris moyles when they were on all afternoon used to get me through the day! Saw M+L live in sheffield was absolutely hillarious. fat harry white and cheeky wind up scouser were my favourites. Moyles isn't as good but I still laugh from time to time and comedy dave is quality. Oh well. Stupid thing, if we have a radio on in the lab it has to be radio 1 becuase "it appeals to mutual taste and covers a broad range of music". ??? Not convinced myself!

Mark n Lard are Radio Legends, Radio 1 has dropped a clanger here, their listener figures were rising, Does this mean no seminal 3rd album for the "ShireHorse's" ?
This means only 3 shows worth listening to on radio 1 anymore, moylesy, jo whiley & nemone.
looks like I will be listening to radio 2 even more than I did............ shocking how am I supposed to maintain this "wild man of rock" image ;D
trouble with radio 2 is I end up liking stuff they play like Nora Jones & Kate Rusby ...... just off to get the new Nora Jones CD now ??? ??? ;D

I'm of the younger generation and think that Radio 2 knock's spots off Radio 1. R2 has got better 'DJ's', Stuart Marconie and Johnathan Ross are really good, and have forgotten more about decent music than the likes of that fat tosser Moyle's will ever know. Radio 1 does get better in the evening, but they aren't gonna get many listeners at thet time, so they can afford to cater for more extrvagant tastes in music.
All in all Radio 2 will only be enhanced by the arrival of Mark & Lard...
