Test it with a magnet for filler! Minis rust everywhere! Had one which looked in pretty reasonable condition until one day travelling down the A5 hit a pot hole, the bonnet flew up and sliced thorugh the panel between the bonnet & windscreen. Turned out someone had filled it with The Sun and then filled it and sprayed it. If you are doing it yourself, it is a bit of a pain working in the engine compartment because of the way it is shoe horned in. The advantages are that the engine used originates from, I think, the 1940s or early 1950s and as such is both well proven and very easy to maintain yourself. The parts are easily obtainable and very very cheap! ;D Despite all the problems, it remains the most fun car I have ever owned. Hope yours turns out the same.
