Wheter or not you knew Jeremy, today's lengthy obituary in The Guardian is well worth reading, if someone can please transfer it on to this MB.
Many of you who were unaware of Jeremy and his prolific playwrighting talents and unlucky not to have met this true gent at the Brit or at an away ground at which we featured, will realise the huge contribution he made to many of your favourite TV series of the last forty years.
He even used the second names of Stoke City players, in some of his work, which caused bemusement among those of us who latched on.
Jeremy was not only a considerable talent but a lovely fellow and the most modest of men. For me, a warm embrace and the guaranteed smile, is a memory which will for ever remain of a man I feel privileged to have known.
He was that rare being, a person impossible to dislike and for me personally, if our mutual devotion to Stoke City was the glue which bound us together, it was his generous nature, his so obvious love of family and his sheer decency which will live on.
Sadly, as with too many in our midst, this past season, he never lived to see us in our historical Cup Final, when he would have been bursting with pride. I'm sure that it would have been his wish that those of us who were more fortunate, will continue to make the most of the days we spend in support and appreciation of his and our beloved club.

There's even a Shawcross in that one - it was written in 1998! With a 'pickering' and 'Devlin' thrown in for good measure!!
