Why is it called that? Who came up with calling it that? I'm withholding judgement until I get some more info about it. P.S The search facility doesn't work too well.

Nice Kickers Pic that!!! ;D
I had a season ticket with them for a couple of seasons. Since not going though, the Kickers have got steadily worse and Stoke have gone on a Phoenix like Rise.
I gathered it was the pic that goes along side your messages. But why is it called an AVATAR? And who gave it that name.
FYI dictionary.com says its an image representing a user in virtual reality, whereas this is cyber space.

In proper English (i.e. not techobabble) I think 'avatar' means an exemplar or archetypal representative, something like that.
So Stoke City would be the avatar of underachieving English football clubs.
How this relates to little pictures on the internet, I'm not quite sure.

Lol, I see the rug is being shown off well there, and Stuttgarter_Shrew doing an Elvis. You should post that on their website ;D Unfortunately, you've gone and prevented any hope of finding out why an AVATAR is called that. I could search Google, but I reckon some font of knowledge on here will let me know.
