Perhaps TP was persuaded to try and play a bit of football from the back and decided to listen to all those Oatcake moaners, to stop playing Hoof Ball with the likes of Wilko and Collins/Higginbottom. He played two footballers at full back and a footballing Irish International Whelan. Methinks he will revert to his tried and tested formation next Sunday. Its not Easy to change your style mid season, especially with the players we have got.

Dunna werrit,it could be worse. We could be in the bottom half just 3/4 pts off the relegation places and have a manager in charge who had lost the plot and has no tactical nouse.

Not here to gloat as we are far from out the woods, but your football today as a lot of you have said was pretty abysmal. Booting the ball into the air (I don't mean long balls), but when in our final third just punting hopefully balls into the air is just woeful. There's a difference between hitting fowards with nice diagonal long balls and whipping in loads of crosses and just being hopeful and kicking the ball in the air hoping for a lucky bounce ect. Now that said I think you'll be fine this season. However I think if you want to progress and start challenging at the top end you'll need to play more on the deck. I can't see how ingraining a reputation for playing long football will help you attract better flair players. Now this may sound like a big dig, but it's just the way I see it. Got nothing against Stoke.

Shocking stuff today. In terms of skill and ability West Ham are light years ahead of us, and it makes a mockery of the relative league positions. We need to salvage some pride now and turn them over at home in the FA Cup.

No digs at all, you're just saying it how it is The biggest problem that we have is that we don't have the side capable of playing it on the deck and moving the ball around with intent and purpose. We seem totally fixated on lumping it forward after a couple of pointless taps across the back four If we played it on the deck with the side we put out yesterday, we'd get smashed more than 3-0

AWFUL, shocking, INEPT - yet again.
TP says we're not clear of relegation - TOO EFFIN RIGHT - and we're playing poorly when others in the bottom 8 are playing with some style & scoring !! We have gone backwards since Christmas. At times (actually quite often) we look clueless, have played as though we have no midfield whatsoever & can't put 3 passes together. Though I hate to say it - we're now just hoofing it very often & there seems to no cohesion and little confidence in the side.
TP says it will be different infront of a full house roaring the team on next Sunday. 'I'm sure our fans will raise the roof'. He says 'It doesn't really need me to remind them what a big day it is for the club '. In reality we haven't exactly raised the roof for a while (Delilah once a match lately if we're lucky - I wonder why?) and perhaps the 'big day for the club' reminder, would be better directed towards some personnel who are earning upwards of £1.5 m +++ a year!
Over to you Tone.
RIGHT TACTICS. RIGHT TEAM (Stop piddling about & play the strongest X1 with lads in their proper positions). PLEASE PLAY SOME OF THE GAME ON THE GROUND and SHOW SOME REAL AMBITION in our setup & game plan. We need a FULLY FOCUSSED TEAM - Just remind 1 or 2 of the lads that 'WE ARE STOKE'.
Progressing in the Cup would be great, but I would willingly sacrifice that for a 7 point return from Newcastle, Chelsea & Wolves (did you see the way Wolves played today? incredible!) otherwise I can see this going to the wire against Wigan.
Come on TP - RAISE YOUR GAME. KTF

I thought someone like Tuncay would have been a perfect player to start adding some creativity. Although obviously didn't do well?
