Just how i feel though march, Tone frusrates the absolute fuck out of me sometimes but he is a Premier league football club manager. I am an engineer. He knows better about his job than i do.
We play the way we do but in 100 years it will be the same in football, if you can't defend set pieces then you will concede goals. If you're good at them then you have to use them.

We're the precious ones? This thread would suggest that a few Stoke fans can't take a bit of ribbing. I am actually amazed that they 'behaved' in a way to try and disrespect Stoke when they had been taught a footballing lesson Funny thing is, Poyet will fuck off as soon as a Premier League club offers him a job and less than 10000 will be rattling around their new stadium once the novelty has worn off. What a shame that perhaps a few hundered utter tools should make such an impression - Im sure they have some decent supporters who actually appreciate what is required to go from League one to the Premier. I think most of us do realise that Poyet will move on eventually. He seems quite happy at present and settled. Two of his good friends (Zola and Di Matteo) have had their fingers burnt, so I would imagine he would be cautious of moving on at the moment. I realise that words mean very little in football, but he has stated that it would take something 'out of this world' to persuade him to move on at present (I'm guessing Uruguay/Chelsea/Zaragoza). We shall enjoy the ride for the time being. As for 10,000 rattling about when the going gets tough. We haven't even moved in yet! Besides, you've had a 28,000 capacity stadium for 14 seasons? Average attendances would suggest you struggled to half fill it and have only justified the capacity in recent years (when you were promoted to the Premier League). Don't forget where you came from in the last few years. I can't believe there are 23 worse teams in the 3rd Division. Crawley looked miles better against ManUre. If Brighton are promoted, they will be lucky to reach 10 points next season. Amazingly, we were beaten by a better team with better players. You do realise that promotion tends to bring in further income and the management strengthen where they deem necessary. I would imagine that we would purchase some new players if we were to gain promotion. You would be stupid not to do so. It would be safe to say that there are 23 teams worse than us in League One, if we finish top, but there are plenty of matches left. Besides, I don't think it is sensible to judge a team on just one match. If Crawley played like they did against Man Utd every game, then they would be clear at the top of the Blue Square Prem. As for the comment about being your easiest game for 30 years. You were clearly not at Withdean to see Adam Rooney bag a hattrick. We didn't do ourselves justice in the first half and by the time the second went in, it was too late to turn things around. Gutted we will not be in the hat for the quarters, but we do have more important things to worry about at the moment. I do think the comment about being stuck in the middle of the EPL is a valid one. The most exciting seasons are surely when you are involved in a promotion/title race or fighting off relegation. Anyway... Good luck with the rest of the season. I believe that is eight wins on the trot vs the Barcelona of League One. your lot came expecting to win. I didn't feel sorry for you at all, you reminded me of Londoners, expecting to be the best team, and finding a cocky, showoffy, patronising chant to sing to us when you found you were wrong (what's it like to see a poss). Well I hope you liked it when we taught you a lesson in "possing" shortly after when we took the piss out of you. bye

I don't think anyone expected a win. The bookies had us at 9/2 (ish), so they felt we had a chance.
We could have had a better crack at it, but it wasn't to be. No shame in that. Man for man, you were far superior. As your league position and wage bill would suggest.
Why would we want you to feel sorry for us?
For the first time in 15 years, we have a permanent home waiting and our future is assured for the time being. Losing to a Premier League side is neither here nor there. Granted, the team will be disappointed, but there are more pressing matters to attend to.

fair comments BrightonBeautiful, the tone of your chants made me realise it wasn't general football banter with the "what's it like to see a poss" but to me it was typical southern people one-up-manship on us "northerners" (who are actually from the midlands)
You showed this earlier in the game though through booing Rory when going for a long throw though. Shame we scored from one! Cheers!

I did chuckle to myself after the "what's it like to see a pass" chant. Like others have mentioned the chant seemed to stop after our players got hold of the ball and started to knock the ball around a bit themselves, while the Stokies mocked the Ole chants.

That was good. The chants of Ole. Sense of humour. I believe we both managed to steer clear of 'Does your boyfriend know you're here?' and 'Dirty Northern Bastards' or do I have selective hearing?

We sang it to Crawley when we beat them 5-0 in the cup back in '92, so I thought it might get an airing.

PS Do you own Davesview? They have popped up, on numerous accounts, on NSC.
They should be wary. Gay Escorts, letters to the parents, taxis, takeaways, skips, incontinence pads and so on have found their way to a Stockport fan who overstepped the mark.

Don't forget where you came from in the last few years. Is there anyone on the board that can tanslate this into Latin as it should be our new club motto. Some people are seriously losing themselves up their own arse by accusing teams of being 'small time'. This is exactly what ManUre, Chelsea etc say about us. Presumably the same people admit we're small time compared to the top 4/5?

It was a reference to the post suggesting we will be shamed for having 10,000 fans rattling about in our new stadium, should Gus leave. I was merely pointing out that it isn't that long ago that you were struggling to push past the 50% capacity. Not a put down in the slightest. You are misquoting me. I'm not accusing you of being small time. Although on that subject, let's face it, the current make up of football means that only a very small proportion of clubs will ever be able to challenge for top honours, unless someone with (ill gotten?) gains fancies an expensive seat in the stadium and ploughs (dishonest?) pounds into a loss making venture.

jumped on plums, I heard. <winky)
SMall-time isn't about size of club, it's about how you act, how you conduct yourself t games. If folk think singing "We're gonna win 4-3" when 3-0 down, and doing 'Ole's' after being hammered, all whilst covered in facial hair and looking like the backing band for Mulligan and O'Hare, is ok, thentheir bag.
This goes back years for me. Brighton have always acted with some kind of god-complex. They seem to think their town is the eqyuivalent of Barca and now they think their football team is too.
As stated before, and funny how no seagull has come back to this, have a think back to the cringeworthy Fans United day. No problem with the sentiment of it, until you see their choice of opposition and how big a game it was.

If being small time is about how you conduct yourself, working yourself into a proper MB lather about lower league fans whose team we've just stuffed seems to fit the bill. The correct response is surely - hope you enjoyed your day and good luck for the rest of the season. Especially as the only ones who've been on the Oatcake seem fairly level-headed...their own MBs seem a bit more unhinged. Brighton fans have been through worse shit than us and I wish them well in their new ground. Maybe the beards were a result of 'not shaving till we leave the Withdean' pledges.

worked myself into a proper lather? Pfft. I have maids to do that for me.
Perhaps we should abandon the internet and simply applaud opposition goals? I always thought the Oatcake was a, er, football fanzine?
Christ, football has changed since 92. You can't even hate anymore. The ones on here are sound, but wishing teams well, good luck....pfft. I don't do that stuff, sorry. Obviously those that do are a class above me.

I hate all Premier League teams, but can't be arsed doing the same for Brighton, we just beat them and they sang a few songs, so what?
I think the hatred thing's changed in the opposite direction if anything. When I was a kid there were very few division one teams I hated, and I would support most English teams in European games. Now I hate them all with a passion, even bloody Fulham, and usually support the foreign team for European games. Why, when I'm 46?
I think it's a combination of being able to see the fans' views (delusional on the whole), the players' being plastered all over the media, and the Big 4 or 6 or whatever worshipping in the media. But I'm really struggling to think of a team I've got a soft spot for in the whole Premier League. Villa maybe?

I agree apb and have said so a few times in my articles in the printed zine. I don't like the league we play in. But would I want to be anywhere else? No.
Still hate it though.
Just thought they'd be a bit more clued-up as I reckon a lot of clubs would see us as a good, working class model to get into the Greed LEague.

Agree about rather being here than anywhere else. A lot of fans DO like Stoke and see us as a ray of hope/throwback to the old days. It's a pity there can't be some form of quality control before people are allowed to express their opinions, the internet would be a more efficient place if we could exclude 'Stoke R scum u could of broken our players' leg' 'U r just long ball I am glad I dont have 2 watch that evry week'. I'd still keep March4 mind, a master of disdain while not meaning a word of it. Brilliant.

which one? The feb one, not the last game of the season one you bang on about that only exists in your memory. Our last game was away at Hereford our last at home was Doncaster.Perhaps you are confused by that because we declared our Doncaster game the next season when we were both away at Gillingham as "Fans United-Heart of Football" to ask for solidarity to two clubs united in being shafted by dodgy owners. Fans United On 8th February 1997, Albion fans called on supporters of all clubs to stand with them and show their disgust at what was happening. “Fans United” was a unique show of solidarity and an outstanding success (not least because of the 5-0 demolition of relegation rivals Hartlepool United). or the ones we arranged to help Wrexham or York. Have a read of this site and remember from where YOU came Please check out the whole clubs in crisis site. www.clubsincrisis.com/brighton/brighton_crisis_history.html
