The equivalent of tonight would be for Torres to be dropped by Benitez against Arsenal tomorrow or Wenger to put Adebayor on the bench.
Or maybe Spurs sticking Berbatov on the bench in the Carling Cup Final or Cristianio Ronaldo being a sub in the Champions League Final.
Yeah, Kevin Phillips has been a sub for West Brom quite a few times this season, but does anyone really believe that Mowbray wouldn't play him if his team needed a win to go up?
Dropping Fuller tonight was utter bullshit. Indefensible. Only one manager in this league would think it was a good idea.

I'm sorry did Sheff Wed get a points deduction when they fielded more loan players than allowed? Answer- NO The FA has now set a precedent , therefore at worst we would incur a 2 grand fine. No big deal in the scheme of things.

I'm certainly not saying that TP is a crap manager, Potters, but I think we can all agree that he's continued to make the same horrendous mistakes in recent weeks.
I hope he does realise he picked the wrong team tonight because my God does he need to get it right on Saturday.

"Ask 20,000 people who they'd play at left-back out of Dickinson and Pugh and one would say the latter - Tony Pulis. Ask 20,000 people who they'd play up front out of Fuller and Sidibe and one would say the latter - Tony Pulis. Ask 20,000 people who they'd play, on current form, at right-back out of Wilkinson and Griffin and one would say the latter - Tony Pulis. Ask 20,000 people who they'd play at centre-half out of Shawcross and Cort and one would say the latter - Tony Pulis. Ask 20,000 people who they'd put on the right in the absence of Lawrence and only one would say Cresswell - Tony Pulis. He'll probably bring Fuller on at 46 and we might get something but why the fuck do we have to put up with this every week? He has officially lost my confidence." Fantastic post - spot on. Also, just ask which other manager would have had 25 goals sitting on the bench with 5 games to go? Which manager would have given Palace £1.3m plus Clint Hill for a defender who can't and won't tackle? Which manager would move a player who scored in his last game to an alien position again, just to accomodate a centre forward who doesn't deserve to be at championship level? And as for the Wolves away game? A game we should have strolled we were left hanging on and them having a very decent peno shout turned down - and then the player who should have started the game goes and scores a wonder goal. The whole team revolves around Ricardo - it has done all season. Playing Mamade Sidibe in front of Ricardo Fuller is footballing suicide at best and tantamount to treason at worst. THe worst tactical decision I have seen in over 30 years of watching SToke City. Tonight we lost the game at 6.45pm - they must have been wetting themselves when they saw the teamsheet. I can now see us finishing 5th and hopefully playing Bristol in the P Offs - a team with as bad a form patch as us. WBA and Watford to go up, with Hull being the form team for the P Offs. We will never have a chance this good again, and tonight I'm not disappointed, I'm absolutely FUMING!

Potters22 _ I agree about the booing.
I don't even boo Pulis and I can't stand his managership. It's pointless booing and doesn't help the players.
That being said, I can't blame people who've paid to be entertained, showing their displeasure in whatever (legal) way they feel like.

potters22 did you go tonight? or have you not been to specsavers, it was obvious this team has no confidence due to its form of late, so you need a change. so when a change doesnt come after seeing awful football for 45 minutes, you start to question if pulis is even interested in football. he's not a motivator, so when you're stuck your stuck and only a miracle can save you. (i.e scunthorpe )

Surely Creswell was the wrong choice to be wide right. Where was Bothroyd? He has pace and can beat a man, two things Creswell is short of. Griff at RB is getting to be an expensive and costly joke. He is too slow, and gets skinned regularly. Cressy and Griff covering our right side were woeful. Dicko should have been on, and Pugh at LB is showing his deficiencies. TP has brought the players in, why the hell doesn't he play them. Don't tell me to many team changes don't work. What we are playing regularly isn't working. And why Fuller didn't start I find unbeleivable. With our current form, we will be lucky indeed to even be in the play offs. Why was peasron taken off, he didn't seem to be struggling and was in fact one of our better players.

I think the truth to all this is somewhere in the middle.
Pulis has made some bizarre team selections of late, ones that have cost us points. It's like the old adage that you dont fix something when it isnt broken. What he's done is taken something that needed a bit of fine tuning and taken it apart and rebuilt it from scratch. At this stage of the season that is a very dangerous game to play. Players cannot gel into a team at this stage of the season, especially one that is in a promotion race.
The team that got us to the top of the league should have been given the opportunity to finish the job, with a couple of additions to fight for places. The wholesale changes that have been made are too much for us to handle. Our decline in form started with the January transfer window.
His persistance with Diao when he clearly wasnt match fit was baffling. Bringing in Gallagher to sit on the bench, and now not even make the matchday squad is baffling. Persisting with Sidebe from the start is baffling. Playing Pugh at full back..... Griffin at right back.... Getting in 2 playmakers at centre midfield and then hoofing it over their heads.....
Having said all that, hindsight is a wonderful thing. And on the back of loss that really hurt its easy to make these negative lists.
There are still positives......
Only Hull are currently showing promotion form out the top 5.... WBA have got to play Watford so the loses one or both of them points.... We've still got Bristol City, so if we win we go above them...... And most imp[ortant of all, we are still 2nd!!!!!
We had the chance from the Blackpool game to assert ourselves on the league and could have been safely promoted by now. We haven't taken the chance, neither have the others. Its going to go to the last game, so there's only one thing to do between now and the end of the season.........
KEEP THE FAITH.......AND YOUR FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!
