sitting in the ground,45 minutes from kick off,i couldnt help think about the disaster they had there, when all those innocent liverpool fans died, made me realise that even since then, the ground is one big disaster waiting to happen,it is stuck in the 70,s,apart from the new seats they have had put in,nothing seems to have been done to it at all,you are supposed to get just over 3000 supporters in the concourse of the top tier, imagine what it would have been like in the paddock on that awful day!!! i think hillsbrough wants demoloting and rebuliding somewhere else,it really is a shit-tip

It's in dire need of a lick of paint, put it that way, but I wouldn't swap it for the world.
I too have often gazed down the tunnel of the bottom tier of the Leppings Lane end and thought about the carnage that has occured there, sends a shiver down your spine.

Hillsborough is an immense ground and even with that ill fated day hanging over it, it still stands a very proud ground with plenty of history. They should never get rid.

The entrance to the ground for away fans is about the worst bit of the ground. If you're here for a night match one time, be greeted by

The Exits from the terraces were that narrow i had to breath in.
I think rebuilding it stand by stand on that site could easily be done because how big the current stands are but i do like the old place.
Always brings back those tragic events of 1989 though and how the chaos must have been.Very sad indeed.

I was working at Hillsbrough that day and so was in the middle of it all so feel I can comment on the subject.
The Liverpool terraces were empty untill close to kick off time whereas the Forest ends filled nice and early.
Stories of Liverpool fans still in the pubs at 2:55pm are still mentioned everytime the disaster is brought up as well as ticketless fans who boasted beforehand that they'd got in the previous season without tickets and would do so again but you won't find thier fans won't admitting to that after the event, it's all everyone else's fault.
With regards the small concourse, i've been to 90% of the grounds in this country and the worst for this i've found is at Anfield believe it or not in the lower tier of the Centenery Stand (home end) which I sat in for a Euro 96 game between France and Holland.

Yep, that's the stand I am on about, in fact i've sat there twice as one season in the Premiership Liverpool were giving no tickets to away fans because they were redeveloping that end and so I managed to get tickets in the home end. Funny thing was, I was walking round saying hi to loads of other Wednesday fans sat in the same area l.o.l Anyway, as well as the small concourse I remember the toilets were down some steep steps too which wasn't very safe if crowded.

same sidders. That tram business ruined the day, even though luckily i only missed 15 mins. I stayed on the tram when all the other stokies got off.

Main stand is the where the camaras are...cent stand is the old Kemlyn road
The lack of space is one of the reasons they're looking to move , cent concourse is indeed small, due I think to several suites being in that stand.

StokeFan were you at the back where the incident happened? I was on the first tram and had no intention of getting off until the person who had our tickets got off I had no idea what the hell was going on then held back for an hour almost in the rain then instead of getting us a tram to the ground walked us there.

It makes you wish that all grounds were like this, and all had a terrace but they dont. Football grounds wont be the same soon, most will be just like ours, concrete and seats. Fair play to Arsenal they have built A very nice ground in which its books ( fancs) may sit in to spectat but not many will be like this.

The ground was never the problem. Fence's were the problem, couple that with scared policeman and a rush of fans it was a disaster waiting to happen. Lets face it if football fans hadn't been caged in like animals at the zoo that disaster would never happened

Hillsborough?
Fantastic.
Surprised that there seemed to be such little space outside the stadium - right on the main road etc.
Not much in the way of leg room.
BUT a feeling that you are in a real football theatre - brilliant acoustics and atmosphere even with all the empty spaces.
I quite like Wendy - I wish Stoke would forget all this 6 loan player business and get on with the job in hand. (If Stoke had been on the ball - they would have been clued up on Wednesdays loanees and when the team sheets came out brought the discrepancy to the attention of the ref (we have enough staff) before the match and insisted a change - or failing that the ref allowing 6 on either side).

Hillsborough is (in my opinion) one of the best grounds in the Country. I sat in the Kop Home End and whilst I had to endure all arond me shoutng at Ameobi and Wilko - it was a bloody great atmosphere.
There's definitely something about seeing your own supporters from the home crowds perspective.
I absolutely glowed with pride when I stared out into the rain and was met with the sight of 3000 Stokies in good voice. Some good comments around me regarding the following wih people saying "Fair Play - That's a great away support"
I realised that, in fact, Stoke were more than capable of filling the whole of the Carling Stand that day but still, it was fantastic to see my Stokie comrades that day.... I felt like standing up with a Stoke flag and screaming "Goaaaarn Stoke"
Apart from the equaliser - a fantastic day with me Bro in Law (Top footie bloke and a fanatical Owl) in a fantastic ground.

To be fair its so much better than the Brit, even the burgers were better and a quid cheaper, and they had chilli sauce, pity they had to ruin a perfectly good day by scoring so late.

Ey up chirps, Yeah, have to agree there...
Did you also notice there was quite a lot of decent totty about too? The birds who served us in the Kop end were lovely - a nice smile and a laugh.
Tip top old man ;D
