Sheffield United at home my 1st game was, in the 2005/2006 season, when I was 11 or 12, I definately know it was 1-1, but if I can remember rightly Gallagher scored the 1st goal, then Webber for them scored the equaliser.

What a good read this thread is. My first game was Sunderland at home 81-82 season. Think we lost and stood in the boothen end on a lovely sunny day. We should still be at the Vic

Bradford at home 1987 I think(?) we won 2-1. Tony Ellis played up front, but I remember the best player on the pitch by a mile was Peter Bergerie. After that I was hooked on the Mighty Potters and still am!

Boxing Day 1988 - Stoke 3 Man City 1. I know Chris Kamara scored one (hiton the slidefrom the edge of the area) but can't remember the other two (although i'm assuming Foghorn and Bertie played against us that day???). Arrived at the Vic sitting on a straw bale in the back of friends claret and blue transit......great days....

First Game: Stoke - Gillingham in the play offs 3-2. We scored in the first minute! Can't remember who though :S anyone remember? I remember Lightbourne was involved but don't think he scored it. We were in the JSU (so not the best intro to the brit) but started as a season ticket holder the next season in the sentinal stand My last game (moved to Australia in 05): Stoke - Watford. Lost 3-0 not the best game to finish but i did get my name announced at half time and in the program. The game before that was at home to Luton 1-0 (i think, maybe 2-1?) Dave Brammar screamer from about 25 yards! My final mental (inside the brit).

Can't really remember my 1st game i think it was awa at blackpool around 93?? (does that seem right) The only thing i remember was a young Trevor Sinclair being head and shoulders better than anyone on the pitch!! i remember that game quite well, it was probaly the biggest coupon buster of the weekend, benjamin broke away quite late in the game and scored for blackpool to beat us 0-1.my biggest memory is the blackpool fans in the butler street stand going absolutely fucking mental.it was orange pandemonium in there for minutes...great mental....for them think you will find it was sinclair mate .

Yes Trevor sinclair scored it. he was the best player on the pitch that day. Grobelaar was in goal for us.

I don't even remember my first home game, but recall that it was during the Mick Mills era. My first proper full season was when McAvennie broke his leg by running into Kamara...
My first away game was Wolves, 0-0 draw when Statham missed a penalty. Scary atmosphere, sharing the South Bank with the home fans.

I can't remember anything about it other than it was fucking freezing and the orange tinted lights that lit up the stands. Sheffield United late 1994.

I think it was beating Leeds 6-2 in 1985. Looking back at the times it is surprising to see how poor our attendances were at the time, even in the Div. 1 the season before. 7,000 - 9,000 / game were normal

The first away game was 1-0 Bolton away, with TJ climbing up the pylon for a memorable Delilah in the rain

My first game was Birmingham City at home , 17th december 1972.An 8 year old who had nagged his Dad for months.Eventually i said "if you cant take me to Stoke can we go to Newcastle"- that was my first geography lesson, but he gave in. I remember the walk up to the ground, seeing the STOKE CITY FC sign painted on the white wall of the old Stoke End and being able to look up from the street to see this massive terrace and the floodlights aboove it shining throught the darkening sky and the winters smog that used to hang over the Potteries at this time of year. Paid my 20p in and walked up the steps which had been liaid over the old ash bank, and when I got there I couldnt believe my eyes- a massive ground with the Boothen End loud but partially in darkness, clearly as big as the big terrace I was stood on. The ground smelt of fags and cigars, I was in a crowd of 5,000 Brummies, one of whom was walking around demented singing "im worth a million pence" ( it was just after decimalisation), we scored first through Greenhoff, they scored twice and won for the first time in a hundred years at the Vic...38 years still going strong.

It was the first, Potterlog.........after an amazing piece of work by Lightbourne on the left touchline, strangely enough.

Stoke City 2 - 2 Wigan Jan 26th 2002. football league division 2.
I may be a late comer, but come on, I'm a london boy who was born 2 miles away from white hart lane, I went to school with a bunch of arsenal fans and I've always hated Arsenal... and my family is full of Villa fans (stafford heritage, beats me why stafford locals would support Villa, but I've lived with it my whole life). I'm just following in the footsteps of my great uncle Arthur who was a Stoke fan, while my Grandad was a Villa fan, oh the fights they used to have!!! RIP both, and shame we had to beat Villa... again!

The only amazing work Lightbourne ever did was getting through a day without shitting in his pants. That and lob goal at Chesterfield.
