Couple of weeks ago on the historical board idea thread I said I'd dig out my grandad's old scrapbook containing loads of old articles and programmes from the 50's and put it on here. Here it is... www.flickr.com/photos/abstraktions/sets/72157625366625263/You can click on 'actions' then 'all sizes' at the top of each photo and then 'original' to zoom right in and read the articles. They take a while to load because they're in such hi-res. I have got stuff from the 70's and 90's as well but that all needs tracking down and sorting out. Anyway, hope it brings back some memories for you old 'uns and is interesting for everyone else.

You should charge people to look at that! Imagine queing up for a cup tie with Hull from the night before, special bus services just to que for tickets and Hull getting 12,000 tickets. Tell kids of today that and they wouldn't believe it! What it does do is make you realise is how much of your life you forget!

Excellent work. One day I'll get round to digitising my Granddad's playing days memorabilia.

Gilberto this is fantastic, many thanks for putting it up!
Can you do me a favour please? We haven't got the new sub-board up yet and I def don't want to lose this, so when it drops off the first or second page can you send me a link via PM and I'll bump it till it can move to its rightful place at the top of the new board.
xxx
(Also, does anyone know where the Harry Oscroft thread's gone? I want that preserved too and can't find it on a search)

This is something that MUST be preserved for future Stokies. Some of the photos exist only in (very) old football books of the 50s. What was amazing was that I could still put names to some of the pictures (so I'm not going gaga just yet!). As I also used to trawl the papers to put in my scrapbook eg Sentinel, Daily Graphic, Daily Herald, News Chronicle, Empre News, Sunday Pictorial plus Mirror, Express and Mail, this has been a treat. The top left picture of a Wolves goal(Picture 41)is one I still have as I took it to school to have signed by our Games master, Denis Wilshaw.
It's something Id like to be able to view at leisure and often. Can this be done?

This is amazing, I can't thank you enough. Just been reading the cuttings about the Stoke Vale Derby. I never saw all that much of it at the time cuz I was crammed in like a sardine in the Boothen paddock towards the corner building which housed the directors box, (a twelve year old kid didn't have much chance) but the atmosphere was something else. This will be my evening reading for weeks to come.

gilberto - unfortunately, my scrapbooks were thrown out by my family not long after I defied them by joining the Royal Navy! My brother managed to hide all my 50s/60s fooball books, cards and autographs, consequently that's all that remains from all those years of painstaking 'hero-worship'. Thanks for the opportunity to wallow in it once again
