Thanks a lot for the opening post, Wilson is looking like he could be our most exciting signing! I'm imagining him pinging out those passes to release Etherington and Pennant/Walters...
Although I love the 'Agent Sonko' updates, I think everyone is being a bit harsh on him. He is prone to some terrible mistakes, and can't pass - but hopefully he'll improve for you. I'm surprised at the poor Dickinson reports so far - I'm sure he WILL get a lot better for you! And if Quitterall can get the best out of Lawrence and Kitson you've got two great players there. I'll be following Portsmouth this season with all the ex-Stoke interest, it's just a shame Quitterall is your manager. Otherwise, I hope you do well.

Josh, what's your opinion on Carl Dickinson? He probably had one of the worst debuts I've ever seen from anyone. However, with each game he seems to be improving. I like his die hard character and that is rubbing off on the fans. He's had a pretty poor start so far but I'm still hopeful he will come good.

Jimmy Kebe destroyed him all day long.

Not the best of starts.

He's definitely one to get the crowd going too. Sounds like he had an off day on his debut.

I saw he got 3/10 for his debut performance 3/10 would have been genuinely flattering for him. Jimmy Kebe destroyed him all day long. One of Dickos best attributes is his determination and he is determined to make it as a player. Always been happy to go out on loan to keep playing although he remains a Stoke diehard. I think he will come through for you. He did a great job for Barnsley. Their fans are disappointed he didn't return to them...give him time... LL will give him a lift

Dicko, love him. Heart is totally in the game, but sometimes his studs can be in players' ankles. Can remember when i went watch stoke vs derby in a friendly and he broke someones leg. I reckon he has a future with stoke when he gets a bit older.

Dicko is old enough already and won't ever make the grade with Stoke. He's not a bloody kid anymore.

Agreed Mike.
Dicko, like Wilko, is simply not good enough for an established Premiership team. Both can do a job in the league below and will have decent enough careers, but this year we should be looking to improve on our full backs (or "wide centre halves" in Pulis-speak!! ;D ) as we seek to evolve our style of play slowly (as can be seen further up the pitch already).

What a great, informative thread! Cheers Josh, you've well and truly earned 'Honorary Stokie' status. Good luck to Portsmouth this season, in LL you have in my opinion one of the top players in the Championship.

Dicko when he gets fully fit will be a great asset for You. He is a top Championship player in my eyes at the very least. Playing alongside disaster areas like Sonko and Mokoena won't help though.

Cheers for the info Josh Liam: v good championship player, forgot the tripped over dog story, we all know he was pissed and fell down the stairs, despite being married or in long term relationship, i forget which, rumours abound of his jack the lad reputation. Kitson, he can play if it suits him Anybody else find it a little odd that 2 managers who left the others current club in such acrimonious circumstances are doing so much business together, still can't abide that jug eared qwitter who manages you Josh

Thx for your views on Wilson!
TP talked about him as a possible fullback - an area we are desperate for cover. Is he likely to play there or would it be a waste of talent?

Post by PompeyJ on Sept 2, 2010 17:34:29 GMT
Only ever seen Wilson play as a full back a couple of times - including his first team debut. Did a decent job there - would be wasting his true talents though.
