Only ever gone on my own once but it ended up being one of the best ever. Through a combination of mates on holiday etc there was nobody going to Leeds last year but despite the wife informing me I was mental off I drove and what a day. Although I didn't find any familiar faces at first, as we were all going mental after Hendries early free kick I turned round to see a mate who I've known since I was four and it just got better from there. 4-0 at Leeds what a day!! went that game on my own last year (although ended up sitting right next to some people I know), didn't even get in the stadium till after the first goal, but turned out to be quite a day!

I've been a few matches on my own before lately Newcastle away and Preston away due to friends working etc. Have to be honest once I'm at the ground I didnt feel I was alone in the slightest!
I match at the Brit 'alone' is a walk in the park...

I went on my own to Burnley, my normal mate was skiing somewhere. Really enjoyed it, having been to Fat Cats before getting a lift into Stoke, then Last Orders (Talbot), Staff of Life, Commercial and Uncle Tom's Cabin. 5 pints between 1 and 2.30, then a fast walk to the ground followed by a much needed pee and a pie.
Trouble is with 5 pints is that I have obviously reached the age where I've got a 4 pint bladder, and since i refuse to miss any of the game to have another pee, the last 5 minutes of each half I was absolutely bursting. I nearly pissed meself when Liam's penno hit the post...
On the way back to Hartshill to meet up with my kids at my parents house, I had a pint in the Wellington, a half in the Albion? (Bilton Street, bit of a strange pub) and a half in The Beehive.
Good day out all round. In fact I've got some mates coming to the Brizzle game, and with the 5.20 kick off I'm still working out the best route.

I've been on my own loads... and for a woman thats quite commited I think (not that i'm being sexist or owt like). Occasionally go with my brother or dad if they can afford/ aren't working but usually it's just me! I dont mind it, i mind it even less if we get a win

I've been one game on me jack, cov away (when the notes were being passed behind the jolly fat bastards back) and it was wank. Then Gally put us ahead in the second half and I couldn't have given a fuck!!

Whydelilah, I remember that - there is always the odd miserable g*t who does not want to talk.
But having lived away from stoke for most of my life this seems to be normal behaviour. it may be rose tinted but at least people from Stoke do seem to be friendlier.

As an 'exile' I used to particularly enjoy mid-weekers on my own. Drive up from Cambridge after work, park up and a pint or two (see who's about for a chat - usually someone I know).
Then find a decent empty swathe of seats at the bottom of the Boothen End (usually plenty of them) and smoke myself silly for 90 minutes, totally concentrating on the match.
The drive back can be lonely but with a win chalked up, no problems at all. Sadly the smokings now off the agenda (thanks Nanny state) but I still enjoy an overpriced Wrights pie, Bovril and Stoke banter - the perfect escapism from my alternative 'southern life'.
