Just confirmed on SSN also. Hope he turns out to be completely out of his depth and Celtic fan hate him, money grabbing twat. If he turns out to be out of his depth up in Scotland then we've obviously dodged a bullet there........ ....I mean, lets face it, if you can't make it in Scotland what chance have you got in the Prem!!!

This is beginning of the crazy season with players signing for clubs with money as their only motivation. Hes useless anyway and we dodged a bullet IMO, better have the wages to offer to players that could actually contribute tyo the team

Why were no other Premier sides interested in him? That says it all for me. Not upset at missing out on him at all. Everton, like Stoke were interested him last season. But, I think the posters who are looking at all the angles are right: 1. JL gets far more money. 2. He plays in a far less demanding league with fewer matches. 3. In the SPL he is very likely to win something. 4. He will likely play in Europe if only for a few games. When you see so many young, promising players whose career has been ended prematurely by the physical demands of The Prem, can you blame them for wanting to play even in La Liga where the demands are much less?

respect to Stoke for sticking to their guns and not being allowed to be pissed about by a player who believes ,as most of them do they are the next Iniesta.

Not that bothered and after initially being a bit anoyed at our lack of incomings pleased we weren't held to ransom (would have felt differently if it was Cole or Noble proven Premiership players) by an unproven Premiership Player. In the future he may look back and regret this move as in the SPL however well you do critics will always question how good you really are, look at McCoist, Nicholas and more recently Hesselink and Hutton. In the end he's done it purely for money which I dont blame him for. I'm sure the Scottish will try and tell the fans differently in the press.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/cardiff_city/8802965.stmI'm not sure if this has been mentioned by anybody on the Oatie but I do not believe it is as simple as Ledley turning down Stoke for Celtic. Listening to this Dave Jones interview Stoke were only prepared to offer a squad player presumably Tonge/Kitson for the services of Ledley. I am starting to get the impression Stoke would only do a deal and give Ledley a contract if Cardiff would accept one of our players. I am sure Stoke would not want to go down the tribunal route, due to the previous offer we made in 2008. Ledley's stock appears to have depreciated over the last two years, but Tony would probably have taken him for one of our pieces of deadwood. I am certainly not too fussed about missing out of Ledley because to be honest I don't think the club are either.

Well done TP I was worried for a bit you were going to start throwing cash at an unproven at the highest level player.
Looks like he'll never now get a chance to prove himself and disappear into oblivion. Think he should sack his manager mind.

I thought you could settle any form of compensation we would have to pay before it would go to a tribunal due to the age of Ledley, therefore making an offer to Cardiff would be in our interests.

Cardiff had no say anyway, as Ledley was a free agent, so making THEM an offer was a waste of time! ========================================================== Cardiff were entitled to compensation for Ledley. If Stoke & Cardiff could not agree that compensation it would have gone to tribunal and the compensation would have been a cash payment which is what Cardiff would presumably prefer. However, they could equally have agreed a "player exchange" as compensation. They could not stop Ledley signing for Stoke (or any other club for that matter) but they do/did have a significant say in the form of compensation to be offered. So Stoke's offer was worthy of consideration and may not have been a waste of time. If you don't ask you don't get.

Would have been a waste of a wage and a compo fee as far as I'm concerned.
The loss to the welsh is also a bonus.

Silly boy. Still, the thought of Cardiff getting about £250k compensation for a player they turned down £6 million for is a pretty good start to the week! ;D Oh you are AWFUL!...But I like you.
