Good luck Griff, cheers for giving of your best in all your spells with us and genuinely caring about this football club and city, here's to some good years at Reading.
With a less interrupted career the story might have been even better, for me the bad move was going to Newcastle but it's hard to see how that didn't seem the best option at the time.

A great servant to the club and his goal vs Coventry is one of my favorites at the Brit.

Bad move to Newcastle??? As much as I didn't want him to leave, to play for Bobby Robson in the Champions League. I don't class that as a bad move. Good luck Griff

Griffin played 134 games for us: some good, some bad. His signing as a 'replacement' for Hoefkens shocked us all up at Barnsley, as did the fact he ended up signing for Derby in 2007. When he first came into the side in 1996, we really thought we had someone special. He's had a decent career, but I can't help but feel it could have been even better for him. Good luck to him, and I'll give him a round of applause should our paths meet over the next couple of years. This. I can't help but feel he's been pretty mercenary throughout his career, and his disastrous move to Derby when he should have signed for us will continue to stick in my mind. Griffin certainly won't be getting as warm a round of applause from me as I'll be giving Simmo should he return to the Brit.

Good Luck Griff, been a great servant and has played well for Stoke over the years, I'll never forget seeing him break into the side when he was a youngster and being gutted when he was sold to Newcastle.

he was pushed out by PC & Jez in 98,he didnt want to go at that time (as he thought he wasnt ready)
PC wanted to do a deal with NUFC for...other reasons
Arsenal - ask Surreystokie - offered more (much more) upfront then Newcastle but Griff wasnt allowed to talk to them
fortunately it all worked out well as Moxey (not Kamara,Moxey) decide the bets way to spend the £500k we got upfront was to sign (bless him) Kyle Lightbourne
injuries & managerial chaos (I know can you imagine...) at NUFC damaged his career.
maybe he was mercenary in signing for Derby but lets not pretend SCFC have always had Griffs best interest at heart
to be fair the dark days of gone & PC can do little wrong so fair play
Griffs 2nd at 3rd spells at Stoke were strange affairs in that he was either fantastic or woeful
certainly his excellent early displays after promotion imho were very important in helping everyone settle
good luck Griff

I can remember thinking on his introduction into the side what a magnificent player he looked and I was hugely disappointed when we sold him to Newcastle. It was a shame that that move didn't lead to even greater things for him - which his talent at that time probably deserved. Thanks Griff and all the very best at Reading.

Griff is one of the best players this club has produced in many a long year. Should have achieved more as he had great talent and read the game briliantly. Dont think he was properly appreciated when he came back but he didnt let anyone down and I for one hope he finishes his career on a high.
