Bollocks Although... it will be interesting to see who steps into his place. Time for Bastian to step up to the plate and actually show the same performance he does for FC Bayern.

Injured by one of their opponents - interesting!Unlucky for him - good news for England as we could well play Germany in the R16.

Ironic isn't it. If he had been sent off for his girly slap (as other players have been).......he would have been ok. The price you have to pay for playing for the top 4 and getting preferential treatment!

Don't forget also Spiderpuss, Kevin Prince Boateng's brother, Jerome is in the German squad. Big loss for Germany. Don't like to see any player miss a World Cup, especially as it would undoubtedly be his last.

Should have been sent off anyway. The big mincing cheat gets what he deserves.
If there's any justice in the world the likes of Dani Alves, Cesc Fabregas, the Androgynous Wonder and Dider Drogba will all be suffering long term injuries that keep them out of the world cup.

Just made Australia's first game against Germany a little easier Looks like no Ballack, injured Kewell and injured Essien in the group. Should be interesting. GO THE SOCCEROOS!

I feel sorry for him actually. I hate the prick, but an injury keeping you out of the world cup is devastating.

surely the headline "Ballacks Out!" could lead to a couple of double takes....

Horrible to lose big name players..............England have lost Brooking, Keegan, Robson, Rooney, Owen and Beckham in recent years. Not funny when it happens then ..The World Cup for me is all about the best players in the world on the biggest stage.

I have never liked Ballack, but that was a very nasty foul. At the time I could see there was intent in it, and a few things had gone off before that, and he was definitely targeted. Big dent in Germany's chances

I'll put my money on it that Boateng comes out with a nice injury when Germany play Ghana

Had he been sent off 2 minutes earlier for a clear slap in the face, then he would still be in the World Cup. Isn't justice wonderful.

However much I dislike him I respect the fact that he's come out and said "Its football; its one of those things". A certain French twat could learn from him.

Semms Ballack is actually a pretty grounded bloke , lives in Central London , so he can experience a London lifestyle as he knows its a great opportunity , not Cobham in wonderderland like the rest. Turned up with his kids at a classmates birthday party as surprise present and stayed 3 hours playing football in the garden,, all in all pretty grounded for a footballer as we know eah club has some good uns and wrong uns plenty of others i d rather got kicked in the chelsea team .

Big dent in Germany's chances And why did he do it? Because Ballack hit him in the face and should have been sent off. Natural justice at work.
