As a previous poster stated this is our most important game for years and i can not believe that we will not sell our allocation very very dissapointing .This ID card issue is killing our support and our club (finanacially).Football is a habit and if that is taken away from you will find something else to spend your money on .But people obviously dont think it is such an important issue or they would be ACTIVELY doing something about it .But as in Stoke -On-Trent fashion they just moan, grumble and bend and take it.It is our club and those who oppose the ID which there are many should be actively doing something about it.

our away tickets usually go in the last few days anyway.

its a tenner for a lifetime card, the main problem is people moaning about the card system, it could be much worse, imagine having to pay annually, people should just swallow their pride and buy one, its a small sacrifice to watch the mighty potters

ah,I see your point now.
the mistake you have made is listening to Ilford Dave!
the away end does indeed hold 4500 ish but for many games they split the away end so we were never going to get that allocation.

Thats where your going wrong bosted- he doesn't!  From what I can gather, we are clsoe to selling out our initial allocation of 2500. I think it is too tight for an additional allocation, although I hope I'm wrong and we can get a few more at Vicarage Road |

I've been against the ID card bollox from day 1 and have said on this very board that i will never buy one, hoping against hope that they will be withdrawn one day, that day will didnt come so i swallowed my pride and went and got one, glad i did now.

its not just that, an awful lot of stoke fans unfortunately do have a criminal past due to football and these people did go away and follow stoke and even if they are now not breaking the law the club/dibble are still stopping them going.I actually wonder if they are breaking their civil rights beacause they have already paid for their crimes .

this the UK - we dont have any as such.
if the ID cards were free it would still have an impact on the away followings beacuse of the pain in the ass nature of effectivly all our games being all ticket.

I am not a supporter of the away card ---- but they have sold over 15,000 of them and it is not that which now hinders any away support. Two distant away games in a week does not help and the 2400 Watford tickets will be sold - no doubts we could sell more as they have closed the Guest list on this fixture as well.

Because as i stated football is habit forming and people if denied the oportunity to go to games for what ever reason they will find other hobbies /pastimes to occupy their time .It also alienates supporters and drives a rift between club and fan.This will obviously affect home support as well as away following

Yes the ID card is bollox and I feel like a fraud because I would never get a government one. The problem is the hassle in getting tickets. Why can't we just show it on the gate for all games? There are civil liberties issues that I have some serious reservations about. Being able to turn up with a few mates and pay on the gate is the stuff of dreams and is not even simple at home without unreserved seating (and fuck you moaning season ticket holders because unreserved is exactly what the boothen and most of the seddon should be).

yes me too you are been penalised twice .If you have been convicted of a crime you pay whatever the cost.But then to be panalised again is im sure against human rights.In fact ill look into it.i cant see how a crime commited 10 years back should affect you now

It's not stopped me and quite a few other people I know that have "past's" getting an ID card.
We have over 9,000 ID card holding supporters so we have more than enough people to sell tickets.
The problem is with cost, it's no longer a fiver to get in and jump the train down to Watford, try £25 a ticket and £51 on the train.

Sorry bosted clog your views are negative, our support aint bad. Most of these teams who have the bigger gates have been in the premiership and won glory hunters on the way as will happen to us next season. No use moaning on this board most of us are the converted and will always follow Stoke.

I just happen to think the home attendances haven't really changed over the past 10 years.
For me home attendances being poor is down to general apathy and nothing to do with the ID card.
Away matches however I concur that attendances have been affected by the ID card, as you can't just decide on the day if you get the day off or find some money you didn't have to go.
Unfortunately thats the way it is unless we draw Arsenal or Newcastle in the cup then all of a sudden the apathy dissappears and the crowds seem to not care about ID cards so much, funny that!

Bosted Clog - as RAF says the cards will have had an effect on our away crowds for most games.
But your post at the top of this thread says that we can't sell all our Watford tickets (most important away game for years as you say) because of the cards. That is simply not true is it? We have asked for an additional 200 tickets and been sent them and we have been told that is our full allocation. So we are within 200 of our allocation and will, presumably, sell those by the weekend.

Bosted - this is a great debate, and both sides have made (generally) valid points. I agree with you, there is a civil liberties issue at stake. I've never been part of the hooligan element, so why should I be penalised for the actions of other people? HOWEVER, I can also see the point made about there being a one-off payment and therefore potentially giving me a chance to watch the team away.
Then again, the cost is massively prohibitive, especially by train. However, do I want to go by car, incur the parking costs, potential vandalism, general chaos leaving after the game and leaving a huge carbon footprint?
This is an issue wider than "yes or no" support/acceptance of the ID scheme and deserves proper debate on here, the fans forum and with the club. Let's not forget that the club also have to comply with the law and I know that the police have reservations about withdrawing the cards.
Whilst they're not legally mandatory, the club has to work with the police and so a certain amount of negotiation must surely take place. Perhaps the police can be invited to the next fans forum so some frank (but genial) exchange of veiws can take place.

You could buy tickets at Norwich, on the day, next to the turnstiles, without any need for an ID card whatsoever.
Strange how this isn't advertised by the club!

its not strange @ all,its an informal agrreement between Stoke & the other clubs (who dont want to lose out on ££££).
I think the ID cards pissed a lot of people off,who blamed the club.
Of course without the cards we would have been facing a possible TOTAL ban.
its all a big pile of poo but the club didnt hanfle it well from the start.e.g. the £10 cost is (as I understand it) only HALF the actual cost as the police check costs more than that.
as it is the club didnt really make this clear & it came accross as a money making scam.
