I'm not saying he was great, but in the bossie season i thought we always looked a poorer side when Brammer was absent, that perhaps is rather derogatory to his available midfield partners but suggests he's by no means the worst player of the decade.
Goodbye, credibility.

The worst ever for me has to be Rowson. That awful display at Wigan. He also ended up for some reason sat at our table in Cardiff in the Angel hotel after the Brentford game. Real honour that was. ......not

Skoko was a good player! Jason Jarrett was pretty shit though, and Sigi Gislason.

richard creswell has to be upfron with pericard on the worst team ! You can't think of a Stoke striker during the last ten years worse than Richard Cresswell? Pretty much sums you up does that.

Goodbye, credibility. Given that he was a fixture in the side for 2.5 seasons I think Brammer absolutely deserves his place in this list. The worst regular midfielder of the past decade.

What about Steve Banks in goal? He was OK wasn't he? Nowt special, but not specially bad? My favourite thing about Junior was hearing Nigel Johnson try about eleventy different pronounciations of his name in every radio commentary. Bless him.

He was and is fucking shit. Look where Sheff Wednesday are at the moment with him as a regular in defence that pretty much tells it right. I've watched them a few times this season, he's scored an own goal and been made to look the poor player he really is. H Didn't stoke get relegated with Steve Bould in defence. And Middlesborough with Robert Huth? Your arguement doesn't make sense. Buxton was hardly our best signing but he was far from our worst just that Stoke fans didn't like him - but like Whitehead - except now the two-faced bastards are starting to change their tune. As for worst? Toddy Gudjohnsson or Bruce Dyer anyone? Or in terms of cost + vs tangible return ....step forward Mr Tom Soares? Like RAF says Buxton is and was utter wank. His penalty against Reading was a pisser, everyone knew he would miss. ;D Same as Sonko, he is shite too.

Also an honourable mention to Salif Diao (The Senegalese Brammer) and Darel Russel- spent more time on his arse than on the ball.

How has Gifton Noel-Williams not been mentioned yet? Good god. Because despite his obvious limitations he actually did a good job for us at the time. Players should always be judged in the context of the era they played in. Dadason, Lightbourne, Greenacre etc were all far worse. My XI: Viander Petty Williams Mohan Broomes Gislason Rowson Risom Sweeney/Kopteff (can't decide ) Dadason Lightbourne

But in the last decade, Lightbourne was OK - him and Thorne had a killer partnership in Thorne's 30 goal season, and the one following
He was wank pre 2000 though.

Kippe was good as was Bjarni. In fact Bjarni got more assists one season than almost any other player in the country
Banks' reflex's were top notch
GNW was a good champ player
Risom was a quality player, unfortunately that was about 10 years before Stoke signed him.
worst player this century? Beattie v York.Disgusting.

Bruce Dyer. God he was so bad I've blanked him from memory!
Whoever said Cresswell needs to grow a brain. How can you score 11 goals from left wing in the championship and be in Stoke's worst 11? When we spent all those years in Division 2 with shite players?

Gifton Noel Williams? Seriously?
Think back to when Akinbiyi left during the Binary Season. Who was it who started banging in the goals for us?
In fact, I've just checked back on Soccerbase and Gifton's goals won us around a dozen points after Ade had gone.
Without those points life would've been VERY uncomfortable for us at the end of that season.

Gifton's brace against Sheff Utd was class. He also scored two penalties against Brighton in the home match before (or after) the 2-0 win against the Blades.
Anyone remember Steve Melton?

He scored the winner at Wigan, a goal in the 3-2 victory against Leicester and also scored what was very nearly our winning goal at Wolves (they scored deep into injury).
In short, the bloke pretty much saved our arses that season.

We ended up pushing for the play-offs that season, before the draw at Molineux and a 2-1 loss at Gillingham in the same week. That goal at Wigan was a superb team goal.
For me, Akinbiyi was worse than Gifton. I've never seen a player miss so many one-on-ones.

Gifton did a bloody good job when Ade 'miss 10 one on ones a game' Akinbiyi left. Also Cresswell scored our most important goal in the whole of the last decade.
Bruce Dyer and Kyle Lightbourne now they were a bag of shit.

Tony Dinning was crap, and I suppose you could say Ameobi and Henri Camara were given the reputations they came with, and the money we paid to loan Ameobi in particular.
