and give someone else (Gallagher maybe) a chance. all season i have listened fromafar here in America to matches where every time he gets the ball he gets disposessed immediatley. then i watched the Newcastle game on TV over here and saw him lose the ball every time he got it, then i was at the game Saturday against Ipswich and saw him first hand lose the ball every time he tried to get around an opposing player..... yes yes i know ive heard it all about him playing out of position etc etc, if he is then he is and he plays like crap, so put someone in who can do a better job plain and simple

I agree. Gally on the left, who CAN play there, drop Mama and stick Cressie up front.
As I've said before, we should be in a very conservative transition of trying to keep the ball down a lot more in preparation for the Prem. It's worked this far but it won't next year, so Mama and the style of play we use to accommodate him should be plan B.
Cressie obviously know where the net is and he could be very useful up front- I know there's this argument about Mama not needing to score goals whilst there's so many already in the team, but you can't have enough goals in my opinion.

What if, by " trying to keep the ball down a lot more in preparation for the Prem. It's worked this far but it won't next year" we manage to fuck it all up?
Let's worry about the Prem when we're there eh?
I'm also not convinced that it "won't work next year". Plenty of teams in the Prem play variations on our game. We'd need to modify it a bit, introduce some pace into the side, but not change it drastically I don't think.
Play to our strengths! It's got us this far!

I know it has RVD and I'm not saying scrap it completely, or even go immediately from route one to carpet. The second things go badly mama should come on. I suppose you're right, getting there in the first place is more important than anything else, but I really can't see a place in the team for Mama next year, a non goalscoring centreforward in the greatest division in the world? Hmm, I do have one or two reservations about that. It just worries me that we rely so much on him, our entire style of play depends on this one, hugely flawed player (who does have his strengths). But if he gets injured for a start then we're fucked anyway!

Not convinced by the "Premier League is the Best in the World!" Sky Sports propaganda to be honest Boother, but even so - plenty of Prem teams deploy non-prolific strikers for their "nuisance factor".

fromafar, although there are several threads about Cresswell on this board already, I have the urge to start one of my own as it will obviously be better than any of the others. Can you give me any advice on how to do this? ;D

Great - well let's hope we have ten Cresswell threads by the end of the day. Can't have enough of them in my opinion.

Answer quite simple really, drop Sidibe (tin hat on) and play Creswell and Gally with Fuller. Sorted.
I don't know how anyone can stick up for Mama 1 goal I repeat 1 feckin goal all season from a so called striker ???, and before anyone say's Pulis is playing Mama more in midfieild than up front where is he playing Creswell? who has scored how many from a position he is not used to?.
The stats stand up guys... Play Creswell up front Gally on the left and drop useless to the bench.

WANKKER!!
CRESSWELL IS FANTASTIC ON THE LEFT, WORKS HIS ARSE OFF, AND HELPS THE ATTACK AND THE DEFENCE OUT.
SIDIBE IS THE SAME, IMPORTANT TO THE TEAM!!
keep the team as it is, but sign a new keeper...

What stats stand up Jack? The ones that show how we rarely win when Mama doesn't play?

i dont think cresswell does a great job on the left..... i seen him all season mess runs up... hes not a winger... he's a striker... thats wot everyone else plays him as.

its not about "the runs". he gets up and down wins tackles in BOTH areas and adds to bite in the midfield area, i really like him, i suppose some people would prefer a puff who likes a few tricks but doesn't work hard, get in the opponents face, work with the team, and score goals.
tone knows more than any of us , and he has him out there....

Preston frequently used him as a winger. Fuller's most prolific season at Preston, according to their fan who was on here when we signed him, came when Cresswell was being played on the left.

What do you think of the stats that show how poorly we do when he doesn't play Jack?
Do you think Cresswell has been effective when he's had the chance to play up front so far, apart from Palace away when he scored two?
I bore myself saying this now, but these days in football it isn't as black and white as "strikers are there to score goals" because not all of them are exclusively there for this reason. Yes he needs to score more, but our style of play is effective when he plays, and I don't see the manager changing it.

From wiki
He spent almost all of the 2005-06 season on loan to Stoke City. He played most of his 36 games on the left or right wing, scoring 12 goals. Against Southampton on 15 April 2006, he exchanged a one-two on the edge of the area with Adam Rooney before drilling home a thunderous thirty yard drive into the far top corner of the net.
****The stats dont lie

RVD valid point... Our style of play is effective and I cant see TP changing it. but this thread is about wether or not we should drop Cresswell and in my opinion (and thats all it is) I think that Sidibe should go before Creswell, simply on goals to game ratio those stats can't be argued. Sorry if you don't like my opinion but that's all it is this is a messageboard after all and everyone inc you and I should be able to give our opinions.

I agree Jack. I'm just stating my opinion why I disagree with you - I think the space and trouble Mama creates is a factor in why the likes of Cressy and Lawrence have scored so many goals, and if you take that out and leave Cressy up front, he might struggle - as he has, by and large, when played up front this season.

I'd drop Sidibe back, about 150 miles back. Get Cresswell in the middle and Pugh on the left with Dickinson at LB.
