To be classed as an exile season ticket holder, is there a threshold? For example, do you need to travel over 40?? miles from your home to get to a home match.

40 miles? thats local ;D
I'd say anyone over 80 miles could be classed as an exile.
reasons IMO, 40 miles is only an hour away, 80 miles is a lot further.
There are some people on here who travel over 150 miles to a home game on a regular basis

If 40 miles is 1 hours drive as Lurcherthelurker says, then Skelmersdale must be 100 miles from Stoke most saturday afternoons?

It all depends what traffic people have to encounter does it not?
it takes in between 3 and 3 1/2 hours to do 180 miles. so on average it is approx 60-70 mph on the motorways. Obviously if your going through towns, then your average speed drops, eg: in london you average about 15mph during peak hours dropping to 6mph in rush hour.
