And long may that continue. But if you think some of the responses are "Replied to with a different opinion which I am free to challenge or ignore as I see fit" then let's just agree to disagree. Because if we're all honest, is the Oatie as honest and as much fun as it was 5 to 10 years ago? Unfortunately people will keep moving away, which imo is avoidable I full agree that some responses are a bit much (I think I’ve been called a stupid cunt at least three times this week) but what I mean it I then have the choice to challenge the reply then ignore it. It would be nice for it to get better I feel like some people are just rude and troll but some people take offence immediately when anyone has a different view to them. It’s all getting a bit out of hand! I think we’re on the same page. I’ve got a skin like a rhino, and love a good debate, cos mainly it’s all banter 😊 But I was concerned that people would vote with their feet if there’s no improvement, and we get things back to how it used to be. Anyway, I think that any fucker who disagrees with me is clearly both stupid and wrong 😀

Which is precisely what I'm not saying! At the moment any forms of positive posts are swamped/trolled call it what you want by a few posters who bring a wave of negativity that people aren't going to tolerate. Debate is fantastic, but to be put into a position where people won't comment due to the reaction of a few posters is, imo completely wrong and should be sorted out by the Mods. I would like to call it: “replied to with a different opinion which I am free to challenge or ignore as I see fit” And long may that continue. Spot on! I'm not saying posts should be moderated, because thats a fine line between getting things badly wrong. But I go onto a lot of sites chatting to rival fans, and if there are posters who abuse the player's manager staff and other posters in a certain manner, or flood threads then you're banned. It's clearly laid out in the MB rules. I think the Mods on here and indeed any site have a thankless job, but I think they have to seriously start to tbink about how they manage this site now. Some of the lads I work with who are massive Stokies just won't come on here because they say its just laughable. And I'm sure there are lots of fans who think in a similar way. The Oatie will only go one way if it doesn't change imo. I would never post here if all we were allowed to do is say how wonderful everything is. That was never the point of any fanzine. This is a perfectly reasonable post however you are missing the point. Airing concerns, outright criticism is one thing the sheer bile on this board is way beyond that. It's so poisonous it's embarrassing. I think its the trajectory of the decline myself. It has been steep and pretty nasty. We've won 13 of our last 65 league games. I'm not sure what people expect the fans to be doing to be honest. I think what the OP was driving at, and I agree, is that there is a poisonous atmosphere on the board generally? Some posters are desperate to be proved right, and that their consistent predictions of doom and gloom be proved correct. Sheik, I think that both you and I know that if we’d won 45 out of the last 65 games, then the usual suspects would still have been spouting their bile in similar measures? Unfortunately, it’s driving people away from the Oatie, and whether the mods like it or not, it reflects badly on them, and something needs to change soon, so that normal debates and differing opinions can be aired without all the bile that goes with it?

Criticism, negativity and positivity are a huge part of a Mb when it’s warranted There’s a few on here though who never offer any positivity even when a player or the team plays well, they also criticise every signing the club make despite NEVER having seen the bloke play or I’ll bet even heard of him It’s just not fucking normal Spot on! I'm not saying posts should be moderated, because thats a fine line between getting things badly wrong. Message boards do have polarised opinions, and it's great to have different points of view, long may this continue. But the OP is right about the huge amount of negativity on here, which if you take any notice of, would just drag you down. I do fear that the Oatie is going to be the architect of its own demise, in that there will be a new site that appears, and it will be one that comes over as having the best intentions of the club at heart, not happy clapping but constructive debate. Because I truly believe that the Oatie at the moment is just a platform for a handful of posters who dominate every one else, and what's even worse, they appear to just want everything the club does, or every player the club signs to fail.
Just my opinion of course 😉

Didn't you realise that Bayern has a footballing mind second only to that of Sol Campbell? It’s not his footballing views that bother me, I don’t mind people disagreeing over football it’s why message boards exist. Saying that opinions are facts is just weird though. Take loadsa no notice mate, no one else does. Nailed on WUM, so just ignore 😊

Haha. I'll see your "bollox" (o-err, Mrs) and raise you with a "hogwash".
😉
More importantly, why are bayernoatcake & The Toxic Avenger parping on (& on) about Etebo on a thread about Lee Gregory? They're like 2 children. Why don't they open a separate thread instead of invading every other one. We are drawn by the title, & don't want to see these 2 clowns trying to score points off each other. What a way to waste your life. Its a good point you make. But more pertinently, why don't Admin get involved and sort it out? 😉

I don't dislike Potter, and hope he does well. But I think Brighton will crash next season, and I'll be surprised if he's still in the job at Christmas

Stoke v Wolves. Season 74/75.
Two nil down with less than five mins to go. Drew 2-2 with TC and........ Ecca Skeels scoring!
That point sent us top of the league for the second time that season 😊

Top interview! Really warming to the guy, and I think we stand a great chance with NJ running the show. If it does actually go as well as he hopes, hanging onto him will be our biggest challenge..... Totally agree with that and I think if Brighton part with Hughton I could see them coming for Jones Good point Crouchy. Hopefully we can swap places with them next year 😊

Bojan had a hot spell of form that was ended by his injury. He subsequently came back and had another small run of great form in a team that was flying. I love the little man, but let’s stop kidding ourselves, because now he’s a busted flush who we should move on.
Remember it’s not just the last four SCFC managers who’ve come to this conclusion The managers at his loan clubs were less than keen to keep him
I’m grateful for that small period of great form, but we need to move on now, and whether we like it or not, Bojan is neither the problem or the answer to the problem.

Yesterday was fantastic. But 1974 was even more so. There are similar feelings, in that I feel yesterday was the beginning of a new era at our club. Back in 1974 that was how I felt. I think (Memory Creaking!) That after Hudson joined we went from 5th bottom to end up 5th top. And the Leeds victory was one that gave us great belief. Bear in mind, they were the best team in the country by a mile then, and walked the league. This Leeds team will, imo, end up in the play off, so they're good, but not outstanding.
All that said, we now seem to have an outstanding coach who is passionate about the club and I've not felt this hopeful for the future since we had that purple patch at Crimbo 2015, and hopefully this will be a little longer lasting 😊

I really hope Jones is the answer, and if he comes in I'll back him to the hilt. But when I take a step back and look at this, is this the club giving an exciting young manager a chance? Or is this the club going for a cheap option?
I hope this is more Eddie Howe than Paul Hurst!
Moving foward, we have to get our identity back, and get behind whoever comes in. And as I'm sure many of us are, I'm sick to death of all the back biting and nonsense going on between supporters, and then between the club and the supporters. And as much as I love him, Bojan is NOT the answer to our issues. He's today's equivalent to Carl Hoefkins who also polarised the support! (IMO of course) 😉

Rarely looks left, always passes right. I like him but he is a bit too predictable in his play at the moment. . He gets the ball and his 1st touch is always to the right, has he ever used his left foot or is he the opposite óf Imbula ? Deffo the opposite, because he gives a fu#k and isn’t a total bell end! 😉

Had a great run before his injury and looked good. Similar through December 2015 when we played some great stuff. Done nothing of note since then though. Lovely lad, who will.always be popular, but we have to face fact's that he's just not going to be an effective player nowadays. Hope the move works out for him, and I'll always be grateful for that fantastic, if small period of play through December 2015 😊 Get your facts right. He's been needlessly neglected. We might not see what goes on in training but he has been the best finisher at the club for two years still and remains that now. All facts pal. I think you need to take your rose tinted glasses off tho 😉

Overrated. Poor decision maker. Slow.
And as for a sell on fee, well 25% of f**k all will not help us!
I really wanted him to do well, but sorry, he's toss!
I'm glad we got rid and shafted Huddersfield for £5m to boot!

The Oatcake isn’t going to be published anymore? How come? All good things come to an end! This is my fear with the message board too. People will slowly but surely ignore negativity, it's what people do when there's no change The Oatcake will be left with a few people commenting, admittedly they will have tens of thousands of posts to their names tho..... Or are we already at that stage? 😉

The op has a great point.
I'm all for opinions, it makes the world go round. But the unfounded negativity on here from a small number of posters who flood many subjects is getting a bit out of hand.
All it makes you do is not bother logging on, because the Oatcake has possible 1500 members, I'm not sure. And out of the 1500 possibly 150 are really negative and can take over threads. So my view is I'm not going to get too excited over what in effect is approx 0.5% of what has been a typical home attendance moaning and groaning, so I pick up all my Stoke info from elsewhere and don't bother logging on.
Admin need be a bit careful because if this gets too out of hand, the oatcake will just fizzle out, which would be a crying shame.

Hello Stoke fans Last season i started going around our Championship rivals forums and having an old chat. Normally just before we played each other. Then the thread goes on the thread on our forum. Sooo. Just general things. Thoughts on your signings, your new manager , how do you see the season going for you and finally the game on Sunday. All responses greatly appreciated. Good luck for the season (as long as you finish below us) Orate pal 😊 If he stays then we have the best keeper in the division. Solid defence with a real speedster at rb. I'd be more concerned with the defence if we were still in the pram tbh. In my opinion, the best midfield in the league.Joe Allen, Etobe and Badou ( If he stays) I don't buy into this having a creative midfielder, a defensive midfielder and a box to box midfielder. They should all be capable of doing every role, and I think they are. Afobe, Mclean and Ince will be a handful for anyone. Squad could be a bit thin if we get injuries, but I think people are basing this on the premiership, but time will tell, and I'm sure there will be more players coming in. Always liked going to Elland Road, one of my best mate's is a big LUFC fan for his sins 😉 Best of luck apart from when we play you 😁

I often wonder....just HOW GOOD was George Best?? I was fortunate to have seen him play in the flesh on several occasions when we played Manure at the Vic. For me he was the best ever alongside Pele. There was no limits on what he could have achieved, and believe you me, he played in an age when defenders would defend however they could, and no prisoners were taken! Always a bit difficult to compare across the ages, but this doesn't effect talent. On today's pitches, and with how players are protected nowadays, you would need two balls in every game he played, because no one would have got the ball off him!

Charlie just said what many of us saw ourselves. Shaqiri is a good player but bone idle and a questionable attitude. Pure, unadulterated and unsubstantiated bollocks. Not idle? Based on what? No doubt about ability, but attitude is poor. In a normal workplace, which ours is, we have a description for people who are good at their jobs but have a piss poor attitude "Talented Wankers" And thats my pure unadulterated substantiated opinion about our little Swiss friend 😉
