He would be foolish to leave until he has a few years of solid achievement at Stoke. After his hasty retreat from Fulham and the QPR debacle he does need a settled period at one club to rebuild his reputation. Hopefully, but a Newcastle might see him as ideal sooner rather than later - would he be tempted?

So Scholes is trying to bullshit to the supporters? This bloke needs getting rid of.

After the job he's done this season, the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham may see him as their next manager - thoughts? It maybe too early but if there is more improvement next season then I reckon it will happen.

I've not done the maths but I am assuming we can't catch them??? I have a brother in law who 'supports' Liverpool. Has no connection whatsoever, his family all support Forest but because they are 'shit' he plumps for Liverpool - I very much doubt he could get within a radius of 50 miles of Liverpool if he had to pin a flag on a map of Great Britain. Also, the eighties gloryhunting(and present day, for that matter) pissed me off then and still does. I fuckin' hate gloryhunters! Will never, ever understand it. So, none of the fuckers - hopefully there'll be some misdemeanor or other that will result in a points deduction and a proper club with genuine supporters will take the title. Don't get me wrong, don't let the bastards piss off to their own league - they'd love it - where would be the fun of beating them if they're not there but I still hope that one day another club, preferably us(I know, unlikely, but I never give up hope), will break the stranglehold of the so called top 5/6 and win the Premier League.

Mine was the 4th Round FA Cup tie v Man City in 1976. Went with my brother(I was 8).
Night match because the Butler Street stand had blown off during that fateful stormy night a few weeks previous - we've only just recovered from that! Anyway, we won 1-0, Shilton penalty save, possibly, Bloor sent off? Not sure of any or the goalscorer(Moores?).
The atmosphere was spine tingling - full of the smell of smoke, bovril and Stemerol with plenty of singing - classics such as 'Land of Smoke and Glory' and 'We All Hate Blues'. Great stuff.
We were visiting relatives(we lived in Lytham St.Annes at the time) and made the same journey with our mum and dad 10 days later for the 5th Round clash v Second Division Sunderland - expected to win but it was 0-0. Third biggest crowd of the day at circa 41,000.
We lost the replay but the whole experience got me hooked. Having heard grandparents, uncles, etc discussing the good, the bad and the ugly it was nice to be able to see it first hand.
I will never understand how anyone can get any satisfaction and sense of place by being a gloryhunter - supporting Stoke City, the football club that represents the area where my family have lived for well over a century, was my only desire and the feeling of pride wearing the red and white stripes out and about never leaves me.

We cannot go down no matter what Sunderland do.

Germans for me. I have to sit amongst an office completely full of Manchester United gloryhunters - you know the type, fuck all to do with Manchester but massive fans, etc. Or those who support their hometown club AND the shit - what's that all about??? Fucking hate the bastards.
I won't even talk football to any of them as I get wound up too easily!
Even the guy who has Chelsea connections(and supports them) slaughters his son because he(his son) decided to go left field and get a season ticket for Bolton. Often he will question why he chose them and not the shit.
Otherwise my work colleagues are ok...just don't mention football, FFS.

Pulis actually never let us down and I, for one, prefer to win a bloody match 1 - 0 than lose 2 - 4. And no way do I want to go to the Championship! We'll never get back! yeah but that wasnt really the choice for most of last season was it. Id rather lose 2-4 than 0-1. At least weve seen our team have a go at it. But we are losing...I get absolutely no enjoyment out of losing by any score. Fucks me right off. A shit 1 - 0 win and I am happy, thanks very much. Maybe I am too old for this but winning is the name of the game and Pulis knows how to do it( and, yes, he pissed me off many a time, too).

Yeah...it's great going Bury, Cambridge, etc...much more fun. I am not doubting you or and even get you to a point but, having spent most of my time watching Stoke lose or be pleased with a draw in these God forsaken games, then I much prefer life in the Prem. We are a little way off playing Bury and Cambridge. But I would suggest an away day at Bury would be far more enjoyable than another trip to Stamford Bridge or The Stadium of Light... but maybe that's just me. I'm tired of being a 'customer' - being treated with such utter contempt. I want to stay in this league - but I do question why sometimes. These last two seasons rank as some of my least enjoyable as a football fan. I've spent a fortune and feel I have got such staggeringly little in return. Chelsea at home, half-time at Old Trafford, West Ham final whistle... that's it really this season; put against all those games you travel back from feeling cheated on the pitch and cheated out of pocket. I know that's football sometimes - but it's not even much of a laugh anymore, either dead quiet or no one has bothered to turn up. Sorry... I'm just on a fucking downer at the moment. Oh, and for what it's worth: Cambridge is a beautiful city. No doubting Cambridge is a beautiful city or that Bury away in the nineties was a great experience but I want SCFC in at the top end of football - not slumming it lower down - I've had enough of that.

I can't stand the thought of being out of the top division.
I do understand all the comments but it's all down to the gloryhunter and as mentioned on the 'Elite League' thread a few days ago, they are the reason we are where we are now ie Sky pandering to the shit, man shitty, scousers, the arse and chelski because gloryhunters quite simply have no grasp of following your local team/connected team(in my case, I've roots in Stoke on Trent as far back as the 1700's and even though I have never lived in the city, most of my relatives still reside in or around). I've printed the comment off that I feel hit the nail on the head and, as I can't talk to gloryhunters with regards to football(and, believe me, my office is crammed with them) will use it as summing up my reasoning for lack of football talk.
I've gone off the point a little but I really feel that's why we have such nonsense as wanting to be in a more competitive league because the bastards are driving us to this. As I said before, if there was a closed shop league then my interest would be gone completely...nothing to strive for.

Letting the so called elite fuck off to their own league is exactly what they want...I for one wouldn't bother with football...what would be the point? Surely you want to be playing against the best not the also rans?

No...I just want to win...we don't win any at the moment and that isn't going to change. Funny thing is, if the opposition don't score, you get a point...we seem to have forgotten that.

This is the whole point...playing well and still getting nothing. I think Hughes is too nice for this management malarkey. Isn't there a bloke managing in London who knows what's needed? And I hear he's getting pissed off already...go get him, Coates.

Prefer backs to the wall, defending a 1 - 0 rather than this...playing well and still losing...relegation all over it. I certainly am not interested in losing 2 -4...we are in an eternal era of winning at all costs...where's TP when you need him?
