Good afternoon fellow Stokies
If you fancy a game tomorrow afternoon the under 23s are playing at Leek Town 2 pm kick off.
It is just a fiver to get in - cockney Ted has told me he is coming for the game and a beer. I hope a few more do too.
Come down. It's good at Leek and there is a meet the Manager event soon after in the bar . Neil Baker is the Leek Manager, former Crewe Assistant Manager and a life long Stoke fan. Ok it's not Stoke but he will be a good free watch over a pint. He is a good bloke.
It would be great if a few Stokies come to Leek and have a beer with us not normal lot from north Staffordshire.
Cheers

Sportsman hates the family stand according to this thread. Not very sporting is it ?
Were you all at the Stadium ten years plus ago, because then you'd have found empty seats everywhere...........

After travelling to Spurs yesterday to watch that utter farce and then watching Leicester from the comfort of my arm chair tonight, I will make a prediction.
Vardy and co will be too fast for Adam, Whelan, Crouch et al.
Leicester 2 Stoke 0.
Yes it is a negative shit post from me. But that is how I feel after seeing too many abject displays where we have shipped 4 goals yet again.
We need to move a few on at the end of this season and improvements are needed. I still believe Hughes is the man for us, absolutely, - however I am still pissed off after yesterday.
That was utter dog shit and yes I can see Leicester sorting us out next month. We just need to get to 40 points starting with a win on Saturday, however scrubby that maybe.
Stoke for life but sometimes the path is a difficult one.

Some Stoke fans - what an angry blinkered bunch.
Imbula has not had a brilliant start to the season granted. But to make him a scape goat for our current plight is just so far off the mark - he is obviously a victim of the price tag. I think we have far bigger issues to address.
Whelan and Walters are not good enough. Our full backs absolutely are not and at present we look weak in goal.
Yet I keep reading Imbula is to blame. I do not think Imbula has done all that well but he aint the sole reason for our start.
That is nonsense.
A couple of wins and everyone's mood changes - we will beat Palace, I honestly think this but we must all stay together and get off the mans back.

This wasn't actually a thread to have a go at Wollscheid but I suppose I did that. I posted a thread to defend Hughes after reading and listening to some ridiculous suggestions about him. I have at times lamented some things Hughes has done but overall, for me he is doing a good job. It has been a good season.
Anyway now you mention the " useless German " I'll tell you what I think of him.
He is not good enough at all. His positional sense is poor, he lacks pace and does not command like a centre half - he is not good enough, not at all. I think he is an unsettling influence on whoever he partners and Hughes hopefully now recognises all of this, I think we would all agree this is an area we need to improve in.
I will support him in a red and white shirt like everyone else, I always will. However I can spout what I think of him on here because I pay to watch him week in week out.
I just don't think you understand.

In my eyes not a bad performance today. Defensively much better now that useless German has been dropped and plenty of hunger, another day we win this 2-0. Our luck clearly was out at the end but the improved performance is the bigger picture.
The Manager should not be immune from criticism and in recent weeks he has deserved some, not only for some decisions but for the limp performances. However lets take the season as a whole - it has been without doubt a good one. Entertaining games, some good football and a strong squad has been assembled.
Just be careful what you wish for. Bigger clubs than us are i deep shit - Clubs like Sunderland no less.
Mark Hughes is the man so stop being so blinkered.

A great bloke and a friend. I was only chatting to him last week down the track near Rudyard with our dogs - John was Stoke City through and through. I travelled away with John for years with Phil P, Mark D, Roy (rip) and Garth - memories that will last forever. Always look out for this crew every away game - I travel with my 8 year old now. I will miss chatting to John - he was a true loyal and I always respected him for that.
It is in my blood too and I understood what it meant to him.
Sorry he is gone. RIP General.

In terms of numbers our away support is poor in comparison to other Premier league clubs. Yes there are of course valid reasons why people cannot go - finance the obvious one.
However I would imagine supporters around the country are in the same boat so why do we not take as many?
I think the post is a fair one albeit worded very clumsily.

I think these are worrying times, it is impossible to not post this without sounding negative but like I say I am worried. Mark Hughes has assembled a squad that is exciting, talented and full of flair - this however is the problem. This team for me can entertain and look fantastic when things are going well - hence the first half today. However when things get tough can we roll our sleeves up, dig in, manage a game and get a result ? - the current evidence is suggesting not.
Do we have the players to do the mucky jobs, break up play, spoil, lead - put their foot in when we need to dig in ? No not really - well not enough of them anyway. Its been said a lot but it is correct - Nzonzi is a huge loss. Some Stokies did not like him so much because his attitude and body language was often poor as was his demeanour and sometimes application. However what cannot be denied is what a great player he was and how he led the team, a presence that we are so massively lacking at the moment. This coupled with the injury to Shawcross means we lack that back bone, presence and leadership - I think this is obvious to everyone. We also massively miss Victor Moses not that anyone is to blame that he is no longer with us. Defensively we look frail and suspect, I am not sure we know what our best back 4 is? Whoever we put in there at the moment I have little confidence that we can get through a game without conceding.
The balance of the team is therefore wrong. Top heavy with talented players who excite - Arnie, Bojan, Shakiri and to some extent Van Ginkel and Muniesa, and then there is Joselu, Affelay and a lad called Moha who all fit this category. Every team needs a balance and at the moment we do not have that. Has Hughes tried to transform us too much ? Are teams doing to use what we used to do to others ? I do not want to mention the R word as it is far too early and hopefully we do have too many good players to be in this mix at the end. Good teams with good players can go down. Can you see 3 stand out teams at the moment that are so bad they will go down ? The obvious early indications say Sunderland and maybe Newcastle but these are big football clubs who will have to spend and may find a way out.
This sounds so negative and I don't mean it to be, we are after all only 6 games in and we do have some great players. I think 6 games is far too early to predict the season ahead and maybe after ten games will have a better idea. Mark Hughes needs our full support, I have faith in him and hopefully the results will start to come. I am however feeling very worried and uneasy hence this ramble I have put together....................

Leek Town Football Club will be holding a Stoke City legends night on Thursday 30th July at 730pm.
The event will be hosted by former Leek Town Reserve Team Manager and well respected local journalist Les Scott.
Scott will be joined by Stoke City legends Terry Conroy and Ian Cranson on stage. Tickets are priced at £10 each and are available through Jamie Cullerton on 07827360181. Alternatively send me a message via the Leek Town TV social media sites on Facebook and Twitter and I can arrange this for you.
Please, if you can support this event - come along. It will certainly be appreciated and let's be honest , a tenner is very good value.
Thanks from a family stand season ticket holder

If you know a little boy about 8 years old called Freddie - or indeed his dad tell him to get in contact as we have his Stoke City coat.
He joined me and my boy for a kick about on the grass behind the family stand.
No Adam Johnson style comments please !!!
I'd be pissed off if my boy had left his ..... They are not cheap after all...

Leek / Stoke supporters - given the success of the season ticket promotion last weekend v Coalville we intend to run the same promotion again v Romulus 3 pm ko tomorrow.
Exactly the same as last week - produce a valid season ticket for any football club and you can gain entry to Harrison Park for £4. For kids it is £1 again on production of a valid junior season ticket.
The Dyers Arms have tickets behind the bar should you wish to call in. They also have a loyalty card system in circulation for Leek Town supporters and a chance earn some free beer at their pub. Cash will also be accepted at the turnstiles on production of a valid season ticket.
Existing Leek Town season ticket holders are again entitled to a free pint at the blues bar on production of their Leek Town season ticket.
I appreciate the feedback received from regular supporters who feel they are being left out. I have listened to these people and agree we need to put something in place to reward them. The plan is to introduce a loyalty card system next season so we can monitor regular attendance and look to offer something back to thank these people.
It is a bit too late in the season now to put this in place but rest assured this will be looked at in the close season. Leek Town currently have an unprecedented amount of games which the club appreciates is quite costly to the supporter. We are also in with a great chance of promotion therefore trying to get more people through the turnstiles at this time has to be a priority. This is a one off period for Leek Town - we must put our own personal views to one side and continue to support the football club. The club absolutely values those regular supporters.
Stoke City play Chelsea away tomorrow which is a 530 pm ko live on sky sports . I'd like to think those floating Stoke City supporters will again take advantage of the offer - after all 52 extra people did last Saturday. You could also pop back to the Dyers afterwards to watch Stoke should you wish to do so. Sounds like the perfect day to me.
Please spread the word and support Leek Town. The club appreciates and thanks everyone of you for the continued fantastic support.

haddock is correct.
Wanking all afternoon will get a bit tedious, get yourself down to the Dyers (a stones throw from the ground) - serves excellent Bass and get a £4 match ticket.
Its good stuff and we are sniffing promotion.
Remember Leek is massive Stoke City town.

Chairman Andy Wain is appealing to the people of Leek and the surrounding area to turn out and cheer the team on to promotion and hopes the final home games attract good crowds.
On Saturday the Blues take on Coalville Town at Harrison Park a weekend when Stoke City have no game. In an attempt to entice Potters fans to the ground the club will be trying a promotional experiment.
The deal is that on production of a valid Stoke City season ticket you can buy a ticket for Leek Town (for this fixture) for just £4. The usual entry fee is £7.50.
Tickets are on sale from the Dyers Arms who will have tickets behind the bar (available this week and next). This is a one off promotion and kids can enter for free with a valid junior Stoke season ticket.
If you are unable to get to the Dyers Arms this week then you can show your season ticket at the club office prior to the game to obtain a ticket there.
The offer is the brainchild of Leek Town TV guru Jim Lockett - who is also an avid Stoke City supporter, however following feedback form various parties, the club has extended the offer to supporters of all Premier and Football League clubs.
Existing Leek Town season ticket holders are entitled to a free pint on production of their season tickets at the bar.
Please spread the word to family and friends who may be interested in this offer and let's pack the park on Saturday and cheer the lads on in another vital game.

I want to identify the Stoke fan definitely one maybe two who protected my 7 year old boy during the mother of all mentals today. We were stood together at the front (pitchside) when Victor did the rest. As you know this sparked the mother of all mentals and both me and Joe (my lad fell to the floor) whilst rampaging celebrating Stokies fell on top of us. It was a bit scary as this was a proper crush moment however the bloke above my boy took the weight of the blokes on top of him as did maybe a second fella. These lads are true legends and when the mental subsided slightly we were all able to get up including my boy who had been stuck underneath for a good 30 seconds. These men are heroes in my book - I want them naming and then I want to buy them a beer at West Brom !
This thread is not a dig at any Stokie who were simply enjoying the moment. I accept that taking a 7 year old to an away game carries an element of risk.
Thanks - this is what being Stoke fans is all about.

If you got a parking fine down by the canal parked on the grass verge DONT PAY IT AND APPEAL.
It's not legally enforceable it's not a fine its a " charge " by a private bully boy firm (I think they were called UKPS) reliant on people to just pay up. I appealed a similar fine at Liverpool airport recently from a private firm and this was accepted. These people won't be arsed to take you to court as it is not economically viable to do so. Basically appeal on the grounds that the punishment is disproportionate for the alleged offence , the fact you have parked there all season without a charge and can they really lay claim to owning a grass verge.
I'll find my previous appeal letter and post it. DO NOT PAY - they rely on this.

ps - I know Nzonzi and Adam were Pulis's players but he had them trying to play a certain way. Teams are now doing to us what we used to them, closing us down and stopping us from playing.
