We've had an offer on Campbell that we have accepted. He thinks he can get better in the summer. That's 100% true. Probably can. Why would Campbell move now when he can move in the summer and earn more as he will be "free".

If we do sign a player hopefully its with a long term view rather than a short term view player.
Keeping the squad as we have it should keep us up, whilst giving the players im the squad more of a chance to show they are good enough for next season here or elsewhere. If we get safe with a few games to go I'd like us to get minutes into the best youth players, such as Lowe, Sidibe, Tezgel, Jojic? and those that are shining in the u21s.

This is why I think we are tied with ffp there’s been several on here who know about ffp and say we’re definitely should still have some to spend Dont think anyone can know because whilst the financial accounts are available we don't know what the FFP accounts look like.

Linked with Germinal Beerschot m.nieuwsblad.be/cnt/dmf20240129_97095574The Englishman D'Margio Wright-Philips should be the next winter transfer. But technical director Gyorgy Csepregi continues to search for interesting profiles. D'Margio Wright-Philips is the next player on the radar. Stoke City's 22-year-old wing attacker is the son of Shaun Wright-Philips Grandson D'Margio is a youth product from Manchester City, but was allowed to leave there for free three years ago. He chose second division Stoke City. In the Championship he played 17 games in the past two seasons in which he scored twice. This season he played for the first team for less than a minute. Wright-Philips has a contract with Stoke until the end of the season. It is still unclear whether it is a final transfer or a rental transfer. Not saying he's the answer but its weird to me how quickly he was out of the team after MON.

Probably fair to say there are only 3 success stories so far. Don't now how many it's reasonable to expect from 20+. You'd hope for another 2-3 though. Excellent Burger 4 Bae 2 Tchamadeu 1 Good/ok Gooch 1 Travers loan Too early to say/leaning on worrying side Mmaee 1.5(ish) - Haven't completely given up on him, because he's got ability. But it'd be a surprise if he turned it around dramatically from here. McNally loan - obvs nowhere near as good as Cov fans had suggested in his time here Cundle loan - must be more to him than we've seen Iversen loan - maybe harsh, hasn't done anything outrageously bad. But hasn't done anything particularly impressive Rose free - just a relief we didn't buy him for 750k last Jan. Passable as cover Pearson 500k. Vidigal - 500k. Going backwards Looking worrying Jojic 1m (ish) Maybe harsh. But £1m signings are always going to come with a bit more scrutiny. Leris 800k - if he's remotely a fit for a 4-3-3, I'm a Dutchman Stevens free Johnson free Hoever loan Haksabanovic loan Wesley free Clark free It's frustrating but generally speaking our summer recruitment appears much better than previous years because we aren't destroyed financially by having a player on the books for a long time. Low bar I know but commercially we are in a stronger position due to that. Many players will leave when their contracts end, so even Wesley only holds us back financially by a year, and there are players like Johnson who because we signed them on a free we could probably let go on a free in the summer without loss or if so a nominal loss. Where we've spent transfer fees it looks like we've done incredibly well. Jojic seems unnecessary, but he must appear to be off the charts in a lot of ways to spend such a big fee on someone SO untested. Leris hasn't been too bad and you'd imagine we could get our money back on him should we sell him. Personally think he's a good squad option to have, but not a player for low block teams. Wonder who will be sold this summer to allow us to spend similar brass. Another 3 quality signings would go a long way with this team.

Armstrong is a left forward mate but I agree it seems centre forwards are not scoring many Oh is he, another one then scoring goals from wide positions. So we all crave this 15+ a season striker but they literally don't exist anymore. What we need to do is find the wide forward who can reach those numbers. Think Piroe is a CAM too with Rutter typically played infront of him.

Balancing the books and not left with unhappy players moping around the training ground No chance of moving the players we need to move on due to the wages they are on unless it's a loan and we pay the majority of the wages. This could be a really positive outcome though. Clark, Wesley, Gayle, Blondy, Fielding and Johnson will probably play less than 180 minutes between now and the end of the season. Yet if we could free up £10k p wk from that it could allow us to bring in a decent wide/centre forward or a centre back. Would sign up JT for another couple of years if he's game this window.

Good player. Just the type we should be looking at at that price. Mmmmm🤔 Ipswich or Stoke? Know which one I’d choose and they don’t play in red and white stripes!!! Don’t think we’ll be signing anyone before deadline day. As Schumacher has said, if we don’t get anyone in, we go with what we’ve got. Div. 1 will welcome you Mr. Coates. He's also pretty limited. Excellent in the air, very poor passer and an average finisher. If we signed him many would moan like anything.

Please have another good summer window where you sign 3 players who will be worth £10m+ when we sell them so long as we manage them well.

One thing is consistent for us since MON left. We give up easy goals and dont take easy chances. Lots of positives from today so far but ANNOYING as! I think giving up easy goals goes back much further than MON, we haven’t had a solid defence since our PL days. Yeah fair. We were shit under NJ but full throttle Rowett was boring and we didnt look like letting a goal in because we had every man behind the ball just passing it side to side.

Can't believe how incredibly grounded he is, his parents have done a great job! He must be an absolute dream to coach, probably improves every minute because he gives you the impression he listens. Can see with more games he's going to get more confident on the pitch which will lead to even better performances, which for a young striker is great to see.

When watching Gayle in this it blows my mind he even gets a chance to get on the pitch for the full team. Knows what he needs to do from a defensive teamwork perspective but he offers nothing.

There's a note at the bottom of the accounts - Post balance sheet events We've spent 10.7 Million on player registrations and Sold 6.1 Million who had a value of 2.3 Million. So 3.8 Million profit on sales and the 10.7 Million will be spread over 3 years on average so 3.57 Million cost, So we pretty much broke even* on transfer costs before wages. * Presuming they've included all summer transfers in the Note to accounts. What is hard to figure is the value of £2.3m in the books for Briwn and Tymon given their length of time at the club. Can only assume most of it must be bonuses for extending contracts. Would have thought the majority of the book value was on Brown. Tymon's value would have been written down alot as he signed a long time ago.

Be a surprise with Souttar if he's potentially in Asia for another 3 weeks, with the loan slots issue, especially with the fact expensive loans are effectively dead money if you can't go up or down and there's no prospect of it being longer-term I’ve never been involved in a transfer deal but maybe it wouldn’t turn out to be an expensive one for Stoke if they just twiddled with some of the add-on’s that we could be due in the future from any Souttar sale / achievement. Maybe a reduction here and there might be enough for Leicester to let him come here for the rest of the season!? It puts Souttar in the shop window and hence potentially increases his value ahead of surely a move somewhere in the summer because at that stage I’ll be as close to Leicester’s first XI as Souttar will be! It’ll also fill a little hole for us to just see us through until May, but I agree Grapey there’s little point in us pursuing the loan if it’s going to be costly as we have little/virtually nothing to play for and it’s not even February :-( Don't think it would be an expensive loan. He's not going to get any game time with them and when they get promoted he will be shipped out asap as the manager clearly doesn't rate him enough. They need him to get game time. Can see his loan not including a fee and being just a contribution towards his wages. Unfortunately for Souttar without gametime hes likely to be loaned out for the next two seasons due to FFP.

If Hull dont go up you can see them having FFP issues. They got a reported 16 Million for Lewis-Potter in July 22, unless they've gone crazy on wages I think they'll be fine. That'll definitely help. They spent c£12m last year and c£9m this year and the associated wages. Possibly got the security blanket of knowing they can sell JPB and sort their finances out.

Unless we start converting chances we very much are in a relegation battled based on the last 14 games. If ourselves, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham maintain that form we stay up as we've got a big enough lead. Also, over the last 5 league games we've got more points than all of them, so the players really don't need to panic.

McNallys passing for us has been consistent with the previous season, bottom 25% for passing accuracy. He's targeted and it makes it hard to break at pace as we are likely to lose it with the first pass.
Fortunately he's good at heading and tackling though, right?
Errr - not now!
He's gone from a top end aerial defender who was also above average at tackling to an average header of the ball and a below average tackler.
Would love to know why because it's frustrating as anything and if he had maintained where he was at last season we wouldn't have conceded some of the awful goals we have.
Rose on the other hand has improved compared to when he was at Coventry. Remained a decent passer, still very poor at tackling (bottom 20%), but is better in the air.
Its easy to see why people feel our defence is the problem when you look at these things rather than the goals against column, which is good in spite of our centre backs.

Hoever is probably the most frustrating player in the squad. Obvious talent, loads of pace and eye for goal...but the attention span of a sick goldfish. Casual, laid back...these words don't go near to describing his demeanour on the pitch...needs a cattle prob inserting somewhere at times Thing I find weird is his defending gets better when he plays wide centre back, where he's got to be extra careful to stop a shot, rather than full back where he just needs to keep the player wide and out of the game.

I really don't want us to just sign squad fillers, it's got to be first name on the team sheet types. We need players to really improve us, not to maintain the level. Just can't see how players like the Reading centre back, McIntyre (with all due respect to him), who can't even get a game there, is going to do that, or am I missing something? And the fact people feel none of our current centre backs are good enough shouldn't influence it. He's been injured this season, so would be slow to get going but being a left footed centre back is attractive, unless your name is Clark. He seems similar to Morgan Fox, better at left back than centre back, so maybe an Enda replacement. Last season he played largely as a centre back and his stats show him as a slightly below average passer, very poor tackler, poor interceptor, and marginally above average in the air. The season before as a left back; outstanding tackler and interceptor (top 5%), very good in the air (top 15%) and good passing (top third). So if he's free or cheap he'd be a good option for left back and could fill in at centre back if needed.

Trevor Clarke - Shamrocks Left Back ?! 20 appearances 5 goals so far this season! though looks like he's only just signed fully with them after half season on loan Wonder if we've asked for a reference? On 19 October he made his return to league action, coming off of the bench in the 82 minute before being shown a red card in the 91st minute for an off the ball incident with Junior Tchamadeu where Clarke was seen to throw a punch at his Colchester United counterpart, who was also sent off.

I think he'd have to leave the club as even if he wasn't in the 25, he'd still be employed by us by virtue of using a permit wild card. Wonder if it would be remotely feasible to pay him up? He's going to have the same kind of impact on the next 4 months as Pottermus. got be worth a try , or does that effect us ffp wise ? We would have provided a forecast and within that his wages would be there for the whole season, so if we pay it up there's no difference. So long as he was free if we get anything for him or a contribution towards it, it's weirdly going to be seen as an FFP "profit".

He's probably the best technical forward we've had in the championship and for the majority of the season we haven't played to his strengths at all, which we need to because he's poor in quite a few areas.
Heading - Bottom 20% Take ons - Bottom 5%
So expecting him to create a goal out of nothing or to put the ball in the air isn't the best way to get anything out of him.
Hes only an average finisher (57th percentile xg), decent passer (top 10% long range passing, top 1/3 progressive passing and average assister XA is 55th percentile), and as we know he's got decent close control (drawn fouls top 15%).
The stats also show he only ever tackles when he knows he's going to get the ball back. top 5% for winning tackles, bottom 5% for the amount of times he does it!
If we don't sign a striker in this window then it would be good to have Mmaee continue to play until the end of the season and I believe we will get better at creating decent chances.

Most Championship defenders make mistakes. If you can find one that doesn't then chances are he will soon be playing in the Premier League. The stats don't lie Bayern. Not every game like ours. It’s nonsense. It shouldn’t be normalised. The stats do lie. That record means fuck all if you actually watch how they play. It’s totally irrelevant with the amount of fucks up they make. Not a single one of the defenders that played yesterday are good enough. And using some stat to mask that is just stupid. And this isn’t defending the attackers. They aren’t good enough either. It definitely feels like we give up easy chances against teams. How many times does a team play a ball down the side of one of our centre backs and then have a decent chance at goal? Conversely we rarely get those. It would be good to see stats that show this aspect because our defensive structure as a team feels decent enough that whilst our goals against is good in the league it should be better.

he’s a SS signing so be first name on the team sheet , i’d drop baker for Bae myself his goals mask his performances The hardest thing to do is to score, so they tend to! it's great Baker is back in the team, long may it continue.
