It's inevitable, sheikh. In our promotion season we struggled to get over 13000 at certain stages of the season. Suddenly we've acquired a bunch of wank fans (I prefer wank to new ) who haven't got a fucking clue where we've come from. That's the pissing Premiership for you.

Well Said Glass!
I remember bein at the Vic, with less than 10,000, and we were fookin wank! Those 10,000 are probably still with us today, and always will be, and it's a lot of the "Newbies" who are booing, which is bang out of order!!
I come in from Leek, and there used to be one bus, which was half full, now we have four buses, which is great, but there were loads of new faces appearing for the start of last season, who will all fookin disapear if we ever get relegated!
We have to build our fan base, that's vital, so we must develop this further, but the "Newbies" almost have to earn the right to criticise? Plus the fact that most of the new people are aged 30 to 50 odd, so they have just come out the woodwork because we got into the Prem, they aren't all youngsters!
It makes you want to turn round and say whats your fookin problem!!
Never mind, onwards and upwards!!

Because I am divorced and can only see my daughter at weekends, I cant get to see many games. In fact I guess I am a anti-gloryhunter as I had as season ticket for many, many years when we were shit. However, I went today and the first half was fantastic. The second kind of crap.. But from away to Spurs and home to Wolves we have 4 points... However, my point is that I really dont think I will bother again.. Not because of the team or the manager but because of the booing bastards... To each and every one of you I would like to say "You are a fucking disgrace and in NO way are you Stoke fans" Hang your heads in shame you, poor, sad, weak tossers... You shamed me and every other TRUE Stoke fan today. god god ! what a patronizing, self righteous, self serving thread, get a grip man !! its about time fans who pay hard earned money to watch their favorite team show some dissatisfaction after a display liek that ! maybe they will sit up and take notice and not let it happen again !!

I have never booed and don't agree with it.
But I came f*cking close to booing when Mama loped onto the pitch.

Its obviously the same morons that boo-ed Diao last season. To boo a team that has surpassed all expectations over the past 3 seasons and gotten some unbelievable results just because of one bad half of football is shamefull

Who booed Diao last season? It was more a case of ironic cheers as he was playing woefully.

If booing floats your boat then do it.We all pay a lot of money to watch our team. Our team in turn earns a lot of money, and when they perform like they did second half,a verbal kick up the arse is acceptable surely.I personally wouldn't feel any the better by doing so, but as i said earlier, you pay your money and take your choice.

The truth is and always will be that for as long as we stay in the best league in world football we'll always attract a percentage of football supporters from the local area who have not supported/attended many (if any) Stoke games in past seasons. My own litlle niggle with this is that (unfortunately) this percentage is probably around 20% of our current average home attendance. On acheiving promotion to the 'promised land' my own gut reaction was that I couldn't wait to get at the local glory hunting tw@ts supporting teams who have had success in the past. When I say this, I don't mean your typical Man Utd/Liverpool glory hunting cretins but the ones who support Newcastle/Leeds/Spurs/Arsenal/Chelsea and even shite like Blackburn. For me this was the ideal opportunity to show the local gloryhunters exactly why they should have supported Stoke City from day one. It was our chance to show the passion and pride for Stoke City which 15,000 have and never will lose. In the summer after we won promotion I was gutted to find out that alot of the aforementioned gloryhunters had purchased season tickets for the new season in a pursuit of being able to watch regular top flight football. For me that is the lowest of the low. I suppose in a nutshell what I mean is that I'd have been just as gutted yesterday having thrown away the game to the Dingles if had been in the third tier of English football. For me it is these new batch of fans who boo. It is these same fans who stand in the pub on a Saturday evening after a great result and talk of Europe. It is these fans who then stand in a pub a week later and talk of a manager with no ideas and ambition. At 27 years of age I've followed Stoke from St James Park Exeter to St James Park Newcastle. Loved every single minute of it. Apologies, thats a blatant lie. I've had some good days, great days and some bloody awful ones in all honesty. We now have a minority of fans who believe that in five years we can be in the top four with a two tiered boothen end singing Delilah whilst Ronaldinho takes a corner kick for the Potters.
If we manage to stay up this season whether it be 17th spot or above, I'll be as proud as I was in May 08 and April 09. We are on the up and up. We are now in a better position financially and in football terms than Derby, Wolves, WBA, Leicester, Forest, Port Vale and all of our other midlands rivals. For me that is all I wanted 10 years ago and now we have it.
This football club has evolved so fastly that we now boo a side at full time that has won away at Spurs the week before and then drawn at home to Wolves.
For me that above statement shows just how good it is to be a Stoke fan at the moment based on recent years and that if the fickle fans want champions league football, let them find it somewhere else soon.

Whatever happened to 'we are staying up', we just don't seem to have that mentality anymore, not once last season did I think 'easy 3 points' but that's what I, and alot of others were saying on Saturday. Everyone was frustrated that second half, it was a piss poor performance, especially in comparison to the first, which was some of the best stuff I've seen us play in this league. Yes, there were boo's, bad performances at home will always cause that, and to add it being a local derby and some shocking decisions. What we need to do is remember the first half, we know how good we can be, and if we can keep up our current form there will be ALOT more to cheer about than boo.
p.s Higgy and Wilko back, week in, week out, Collins has only played well for 45 mins since signing, and Huth isn't a right back.

"The people booing must be gloryhunters/new fans"
What a ridiculous notion. There was plenty of booing when we were in the lower leagues.
"There was no booing last season. Our fans are now crap and not as good as last year."
Not quite as ridiculous, but not far off. We were booed off at half time at Everton last year and if we'd been two up at home to West Brom at The Brit and "fucked it up", we'd have been booed off then.
Stoke's support home and away has been excellent this season, as it was last year. People bang on about that "80th minute roar" against Citeh, but that was a rarity, not the norm.
Matches against the likes of Fulham and Hull LAST SEASON were played to a backdrop of near silence and I well remember Spurs scoring at The Brit and the place being like a morgue until Rory put us ahead again.
I thought the atmosphere was good on Saturday. Not the best of all time, but could someone point me to a game where a set of Premier League home supporters have been better over the past couple of years (you'd have to go back to Pompey a few years back, perhaps?)
The problem isn't the "passion", it's the poor repertoire of songs (even though we've got plenty), the breakneck speed at which they are "sung" and the lack of "filler" (Tony Pulis' red and white army etc.).
More than the above, though, I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY don't get this notion that it's outrageous to be upset "because we are in the Premier League". Are the people advocating this really thinking about games against Exeter and Rotherham when we play Wolves?
Perhaps I'm missing something, but in 2002, a bloke booing because he was disappointed with a performance against Luton is experiencing the exact same emotion as somebody booing because we played badly against Wolves. The former isn't intrinsically one of the club's most ardent fans, whilst the latter is some sort of Johnny-come-lately shivering weed. Football is a passionate game where you live in, and for, the moment.
