Because our centre-halves are massively over-rated, for one. Terry shirks any physical or aerial challenge and Ferdinand is STILL prone to switching his dozy-at-the-best-of-times brain straight off and making tremendous cock-ups. Oh, and we insist on picking that useless cheat Heskey ahead of a proper centre-forward like Kevin Davies. Are you suggesting that Kevin Davies doesn't cheat MD?

He's a different kind of cheat I just feel that while Kevin Davies is not only the more capable target man, I am admittedly swayed by the fact that Kevin Davies is a traditional, physical no-nonsense player while Heskey is a great big tart with zero self respect who spends 90 minutes falling over. Is it too much to ask for the England national team to represent the best aspects of our game and English attitudes towards football instead of being complete and utter arseholes all the time?

I just think if you want players dropped purely for being tarts and falling over then Heskey would come away halfway down a list of about 15-20.

We're talking purely the last England squad, right?
I suppose if we're going to have a cheatingtartometer, I'd have this as my list:
Ashley Cole Steven Gerrard John Courageous Frank Lampard Shaun Wright-Phillips Emile Heskey Gabriel Agbonlahor Wayne Bridge Rio Ferdinand Wes Brown
After this point, the players become indivisible as they're neither especially tarty or cheaty.
N.B. Some of these players are mostly cheats/tarts only, with only the odd hint of the other thrown in.

I forgot to put Rooney in, he'd probably slot in between Courageous and Lampard.

We won't win The World Cup because we aren't good enough and there are better countries. It'd be nice to get to the semi-finals, though.
To add to your list, David Beckham is the biggest tart.

I'd love it if England won the world cup, but anything past the quarter finals would be excellent, we're bottlers at the end of the day.

We are rubbish. Simples. We are English, and we have to understand that we always think we are better at Nogger than we actually are. That's a fact, Jack !

The "pride and passion" thing is bollocks. It has nothing to do with it whatsoever.

The main reason for me is our full backs. Against really good teams, I think we wil be found out re the space we leave. Whilst they are very good going forward, they have to be more disciplined against world class forwards and wingers

Englands biggest problem...as it has been for a while....is the defence. Lack of technical and tactical sophistication. John Terry ois a good stopper BUT can you imagine him carryinmg the ballk forward to look for a pass? Ferdinand has been able to carry the ball forward BUT his lapses of concentration are proving costly.
Also the psychology of the players (defenders especially) clearly isn't right.

I reckon they could well win the World Cup with a bit of luck, however I really hope they don't. I can't stand the arrogant twats tbh.

I refuse to cheer any of those cretins I have booed down Stoke as I cant stand the pre-madonnas
Therefore that rules out -:
Park my Bentley in disabled - John Terry Cashley Cole Wayne "Shrek" Rooney (I'll never forgive him for that elbow on Faye) Stephen "Diving bastard" Gerrard Fat Frank Lampard
Theres 5 of the starting 11 I totally despise so I think i''ll watch antiques roadshow when the world cup is on and wait for the Stoke's season to start again.

The Premier League is popular throughout the world because its often exciting and fast paced mixed with physical tussles. This does make for exciting blood and thunder games but doesn't necessarily help players to develop their technique and tactical awareness. The British public likes blood and thunder too. As I do by the way. Whats the thing always thrown at the England set up? Passion. England lack 'passion'. 'Passion' manifests itself by way of crashing tackles and sticking your bonce amongst the boots to win a header. These aren't bad attributes but at World Cup level you need more than blood and thunder. Englands players are lacking because many have never had to consider a wider range to their game. Partly because of the nature of English football.
