Sounds like a Western. Mares likes old Westerns. Oh, but it can't be a Western if it's 'British character acting'......... Can't beat Jack Hawkins for that sort of thing IMO. The old B&W British films were staggeringly good..... 'Brief Encounter', 'Rebecca', Dirk Bogarde in 'Victim', etc. FABULOUS. You can have British actors in westerns though ? Sean Connery starred in one called “ Shalako “ . True, Bisp. But c'mon - you've got to agree - Sean Connery can't act for toffee! That Oscar he got?????? (Untouchables) Talk about worraloada..... etc! I think John Cleese might also have been in one with Kevin Costner.... the title's just come to me - 'Silverado'. But I could be wrong! (C.B.B.T.L.I.U! )

"Panic Room" thriller w Jodie Foster "Non Stop" thriller w Liam Neeson Saw two movies in two days. Unusual. They were ok. Hej Musik..... Do you watch them in English or dubbed into Swedish? Your English is marvellous, btw. All Scandinavians are the same. In English. With swedish text.

Yeah, does sound like a Western doesn't it, Murph, but it's not. Mrs Q can't stand Westerns. I'm not fussed either way by them.
Set predominantly in a pub with the regulars trying to crack the case of a murder. Utterly brilliant. Gordon Harker is magnificent. And a very early appearance from Roddy McDowell too. Thanks VM, JD....... found it. 'Saloon Bar' - it's with three other films on a DVD called 'The Ealing Studios Rarities Collection' - Volume 10 - £4.98
Volume 10 says it all - there's a market for these old B&W films! smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00F99HSZW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1
Secret Agent Murph strikes again. Top work. I'd be sorely tempted but we have around 20 oldies to watch plus one or two I've scheduled to record each day over the next fortnight. Freebies from Talking Pictures as opposed to giving Amazon any of my hard-earned pennies. It's the closet Yorkshireman in me ... Tonight's offering was The Stars Look Down. Very unusual film for many reasons, but I won't put any spoilers in case anyone's not seen it and hopes to watch it sometime. As.much as I love the idea of Carrot Walks, the little blighters do fly, albeit at low levels. Sort of vegetable stealth bombers. In fact the earlier mention of the daytime badger lights the image that the carrot menaces fly at about the height of a badger's rump. So brock could well have been a scout for an invading squadron of carrot destroyers. Dustbins to the fore, everyone. Dig for victory, keep mum she keeps walls with ears etc.

Would have made a superb Ingmar Bergman film, D. Sadly he's no longer with us. I'll put myself forward for an extra part - third box of washing powder from the left. Talking old directors, Mrs Q & I discovered the Talking Pictures channel on satellite recently & we watch an old movie most nights when she's not on a late shift. Watched Saloon Bar last night - marvellous British character acting.

The old B&W British films were staggeringly good..... 'Brief Encounter', 'Rebecca', Dirk Bogarde in 'Victim', etc. FABULOUS. Ah, Jack Hawkins, one of the best. Particularly his war films. Don't mind a bit of Stanley Holloway for great character acting but my favourite has to be John Mills. The master. A pal clued me up on A Matter Of Life And Death recently so I bought that. Can't stand David Niven normally but it's a wonderful film. Raymond Massey at his finest. For 1946, the cinematography was astounding.

Three foot ish is what is recommended ...but you can always doubly be sure by covering them with fleece , also sow them thinly to minimise thinning out , the scent given off when thinning seedlings attracts them .I have two old dustbins that I grow mine in , too tall for the little blighters ! You ought to be on the TV, Bisp! (Not saying which programme.................) I know 🙄

He did Bisp, and always with a troubled soul and a warm heart. Tonight's viewing was another John Mills, Vicious Circle. Jolly good it was too. Then we started Madeleine but couldn't get on with it. Made in 1950 as a throwback to 1930's style and set in 1850? complete with uncomfortable Victorian mores. David Lean was a great director but this one wasn't for me. Not my cup of tea. Had it been Madeleine Smith it could have been very different.

Speaking of British actors, you can watch the son of an Essex taxi driver portray Sir John Gielgud in the House of Commons every day. Sir John plays a character called Mr Speaker. And he's marvellous darling, absolutely marvellous!
