Undoubted talent but if it means we are paying him silly wages then it'll only cause unrest amonst the squad. He's eternally injured as well.
If it's a low salary pay as you play, big goal bonuses etc then YES
othwerise NO

But after all his messing about, etc, would you still want a guy, if it's true, who is quibbling over wages to that extent? Does he want a shot at the World Cup or does he just want the dosh?

He seems the kind of player who gets on with it and gives his all where ever he is, not one of these premadonna twats! I'd like to see him in a stoke top, TP would get the best out of him (as per Fuller & akinbye), and i'm pretty sure we won't get screwed over on wage demands either.
In short, yes; and if we get the best out of him we'll be laughing!

When TP cools down on a transfer has he EVER changed his mind?

If this was a positive move for both player and club it would surely have been sorted by now. We none of us know what really goes on in these matters but you get the impression that management and fans alike are bored with this saga which is sapping energy & enthusiasm that could be better directed elswhere.
In Fuller and Beattie we have players who will get goals and I am increasingly getting the impression that David Kitson is starting to get his act together, and could be our surprise package this season.
I would rather turn our attention to making our midfield stronger and more creative as well as reinforcing the defence. If the Ashton deal drops, fine, its a bonus (we hope) but if it doesn't lets just move on.
As fans we we need to start our second premiership season with the same level of commitment and enthusiasm as we did our first. Sustaining that enthusiasm made a massive difference to the outcome of home performances. If this board is anything to go by the Aston business and other transfer speculation has bred a noticeable amount of irritation and argument amongst fans and the last thing we want is our solidarity to be undermined.
So more important than whether Ashton or anybody else comes or not is that we put the lid on the speculation as quickly as possible, get behind the players that we have, and just get on with it.

I'd love him to sign but have lost faith in it now. Don't think we've emade the deal attractive enough to him ..... ie 4 years on 55g a week. Doesn't matter whether he's always injured, that's what he's on now and we'll hav to get somewhere near it or just forget it.

Me too, classic Pulis player, classic Pulis scenario of getting close, it doesn't work out but stick at it... I really wouldn't be surprised if Tone isn't just going for a cheaper deal and some strings attached. I would love to know what the medical insurance report actually said, don't suppose anyone's got an inside track to those??

It would be a shame to miss out on him after agreeing a deal with west ham for him, i'd still love him to sign, I think for his potential he is worth gambling on, Pulis has a track record of rescuing strikers and rejuvenating them.

Still think he'd be an excellent acquisition for us, even at half his previous fitness. I think this one is RIP though

He's scored a grand total of 17 goals in four seasons for WH. Injury prone............leave well alone Stoke.

Ek I am not being funny pal, but Stoke fans have never been so divided since Pulis came back, we managed to get up, and stay up, despite our lack of unity on the issue of the manager. The frustration over transfers is just red-herring for the Pulis haters, to occupy themselves, as it is certainly not en vouge to Pulis hate at the min! They will surely be in the wings ready to go if we start badly!
