As bad as Nigel Miller was last night (and as much as I wanted to throw something at him to wake him up) did we see a plethora of missiles, including coins thrown in his direction when he was "sorting out" the Fuller foul near the corner flag at the Boothen End?
If so, why on earth do fans do this? It just gives the football authorities and already biased media the opportunity to further denigrate what is happening at Stoke.

Parkerson, no just can't see the point of bringing on more trouble than is necessary and then we wonder what we did wrong. Or is that part of the psyche to see what you can get away with, then blame others?

I was specifically looking at that incident to watch for missles, as it appeared to be a flash point and it has happened in the past.
However, I saw absolutley nothing being thrown or landing anywhere near the ref or the pitch in general.

But i'm not going to fucking sit here and make an issue out of it...
.....for starters it missed like a pericard effort on goal

I didn't see anything but their player should have been sent off-he aimed a punch at the ref ffs!

Post by onemanbang on Feb 13, 2008 11:22:43 GMT
it wasnt as such a punch buyern, the way i saw it was the ref put a hand out to the player on the floor to see if he was ok and the player (pressumably vignal) barged or pushed the refs hand away and lets face it if the ref had balls then he would have walked.

I didn't see any coin throwing - and I watched the incident closely because I was concerned that Ricardo might deck the twat - and I have heard nothing since about such an incident despite speaking to a couple of people who work at the club today. Not stirring the brown stuff are we Knowingeye?.
Clearly we are just too uncouth in S-O-T for someone of Knowingeye's high ideals. Perhaps as, Coatesout suggests, you'd like to go and bother someone else? Perhaps Amnesty International have a sunday side that you could go and watch?

nope godo there was definately a coin thrown without a doubt. To be fair though whoever threw it had a shite shot it went no where near them not that id wish any player to be hit by a coin especially mr Ostlund

I think you will find its the kind hearted and generous nature of the indigenous S-O-T public. They were assisting the referee in his Taxi fare home.

Bring back public hangings, flogging and stocks whilst we're at it!
Anything goes then is it?
We're walking blindly into a situation that the football authorities and media taking their typical anti-Stoke stance will revel in.
A couple of matches behind closed doors next season will perhaps make us see the error of our ways.

Okay, it was on the other thread...so why try and highlight someone that most of us didn't see (ignorance is not an excuse) and stir things as opposed to discussing on on that thread and allowing us to say fair does, we were wrong, if it did occur.

It appeared on the other thread after I started this discussion and no I'm not stirring but trying to understand why some "fans" think it acceptable to throw coins at players or officials.
Watching football in the seventies I remember being hit, at Main Road, by sharpened coins and seeing darts being thrown into crowds!
It seems a perfectly sensible debate to me.

Very well, i'll get off my high horse and apologise. It is perfectly sensible to debate and agree that we don't want that type of behaviour (especially with our reputation). It is just your posts today have had a negative slant on them and i questioning your motives.....

German. Stoke are playing great football and in a great position to get promotion (best position for years!). I just don't want to see it spoiled by the crazy actions of the minority and perhaps we should question their motives.
What else have I said that's negative? (Have some Karma)

so a coin that got nowhere it's intended target is "a plethora of missiles".
No-one wants the media to be handed a ready made excuse to have another go at us but there's a difference between balanced concern and self righteous pomposity - although as if someone with the sign in name "Knowingeye" would be pompous or superior for heavens sake?

If one coin is not a missile, would two or more make a change?
