We will do very well to repeat this seasons finishing position as we have exceeded most peoples expectations. It doesn’t mean we can’t better it in years to come but I think we need to remember not to run before we’ve actually learned to walk. As long as the manager and club don’t get as carried away as the supporters we’ll be fine. We certainly will need more points away from home next season if we are to progress higher in the table.
We wont be a shock to many clubs next season, many underestimated us and believed the media publicity that we would be a push over that isn’t going to happen again, we are like the horse who only a few people know is much better than the form suggests, now everyone knows the secret. I think Tony is correct, slow evolution is better than a revolution that has a burning fire for a short time and then loses it’s passion and dies out. There have been too many clubs who have blazed for a short time and then fizzled out and been left debt ridden and crippled for years to come, we can’t afford that scenario so for me slow evolution and establishing ourselves in the Premiership is going to take time and will be much better for the club and supporters in the long run.
So if we finish anywhere outside of the bottom 5 next season we are slowly establishing ourselves and ultimately we can move from there to better things

One of the managers skills is managing expectation and his pragmatic approach. I'm sure he realises that next season will be just as tough and anything above 18th is a job well done.

We are capable of a similar season to this one but give me 17th now and I will rip your arm off. We have seen 'second season syndrome' happen before (most notably to Reading) and we need to make sure that doesn't happen to us.
Once (if) we get into our third and fourth seasons in the Premier League then I would expect us to be pushing forward and trying to knock on the European door.

I think some people are getting mixed up between the HIGHEST we could realistically finish, and where you would by HAPPY finishing.
