I think it's a pretty much nailed on thing really with everybodies favorite man mountain winning the lot but who is your player of the year?
I'd say the top five contenders this year are...
Thomas Sorensen Ryan Shawcross Abdoulaye Faye Ricardo Fuller James Beattie
You may have your own opinions on that top five i.e Glen Whelan and Rory Delap may make your top five as they have been a massive part of our success also this season.
But who is your player of the year?
I love the lot of em but mine has to be the best defender I have ever seen in a stoke shirt in my 20 years supporting this great club.
Abdoulaye Faye - He just gets better and better each time you watch him play and just when you think you have seen it all and christ that was amazing he goes and does something even better five minutes later and he just loves this club more than any other he has played for in england before. An amazing signing.
It is hard to single one player out though from this year.

The only way Abdy doesn't win this is if George W Bush and Robert Mugabe are chief returning officers and I don't think they will be.

Abdoulaye Faye aswell by a country mile. Not only is he dominant at the back, but he is a very good distributor and rarely wastes the ball when he gets it, he is incredibly composed, and i also think his presence has improved Shawcross alot as a player aswell.

Ab Faye is the runnaway winner, unless Momo's democracy hits town. Though lets be honest we have had so many players of the year on that field this season.

Abdy- a constant starter thats got better and better Ryan- shown his quality and potential after a shaky start Tomo- Saved us from alot of trouble.
Couldnt pick one, but its better than sky sports lot;
Giggs Ronaldo Vidic Van der Sar, Vid Rio Fucking Ferdind! Gerrard
Totally idiotic thoughtless list.

Despite a superb effort, Richard Cresswell just gets pipped by Abdoulaye. The bloke is an absolute man mountain at the back and shows that little bit of class in tight situations.
There is no way that anyone but Abdy will win this.
Fan's player of the season: Abdoulaye Faye Player's player of the season: Abdoulaye Faye Goal of the season: Ricardo Fuller v Villa Most improved player of the season: Andy Wilkinson Academy player of the season: Nat Wedderburn/Louis Moult

I voted at the Knype and Biddulph Supporters Club POY on Saturday
I went for:
1: Ab Faye - Immense 2: Shawcross - Has improved and stepped up to this league with ease 3: Wilkinson - This lad is 100x a better player than he was even 4 months ago. A teriffic improvement in such a short space of time
Our defence is probably whats kept us up and enabled the narrow victories set us apart from other teams that ship goals.
My son obviously went for Beattie and Fuller, but kids do love glory boy strikers!
(I'm a defender, can you tell! lol)

Theres been a few who have stood out this season: Shawcross, Wilko, Sidbe (when not injured. I have also been very pleased with Whealan since he has come in.
But there has not bin 1 player in are squad who you can compare to Abdoulaye Faye this season
Without a doubt Abdy

1. Abdoulaye Faye- on the road to becoming the greatest centre half the club have ever had?
2. Rory Delap- His throws have been crucial and we wouldn't be in our position without him. Top pro, who has always been solid whenever called upon. Now, finally thriving in central midfield.
3. James Beattie- Only half a season i know however on top of his goals, he has given Ric a good kick up the arse which has improved the side no end.
I'm proud of every player this season, even Cresser, everyone of them has given everything to the cause and everyone of them can hold their heads up high, except Vincent who is a disgrace to the shirt, the club and the fans.

1) abdy faye - do i really need to give a reason? hands down
2) James beattie - his goals have been crucial and he came in at a difficult time for us
3) Ryan shawcross - has been immense in the middle of defense with abdy and is improving all the time
Most improved player -
1) Wilko - This lad has improved so much its not funny, he may lose his cool sometimes but he has had most of the premierships best players in his back pocket
2) whelan - 2nd half of the season has really started to dominate the middle of the park a lot more with excellent passing

A top 1, that became a top 3 , then a top 10, then a hastily-constructed top 12
1. Abdy What more can you say? 2. Shawcross Got better and better and better 3. Delap Can't underestimate the 10 or so goals we've got direct from his catapults nor the bad press it got us which continued to light a fire under our season. And he's a model pro that sums up everything good about the squad's attitude and approach. Can't believe he's the same player we saw as he was making his way back from his horror injury. Put a wholehearted shift in out of position for 90% of the season and has shone recently in some crucial, season-defining wins in his favoured position 4. Beattie Probably wouldn't have stayed up without his crucial splurge of goals and buzz he created. 5. Sorensen A couple of poor days at the office but generally excellent. Great character too. 6. Fuller Pretty impressive season, especially after the West Ham incident. Such a key player for us. I love him. 7. Whelan Found an impressive run of form in the last 2 months that we were starting to doubt he had within him after a lacklustre first year at the club. 8. Higginbotham Like Delap, great attitude. 100%er who puts it all in every time. Started to chip in with some assists too. Good season overall. 9 Sidibe Good old Mama. I really thought he'd be laughed out of town at this level. Then again, I was convinced he'd never play a part in a successful promotion team. Impossible not to love him 10. Wilkinson Surprised everyone that he's been able to look as at home as he has. Plays with the passion of a fan. 11. Lawrence Injury-ruined season, starting to come good and scored season-shaping goal. 12. Etherington Given us great balance just by virtue of him not being Cresswell, having a left foot, a turn of pace and being a Prem-standard winger. Has had a couple of very good games. I'd like to think there was a lot more in the tank and we'd finally see him beat a man some time soon.
