A well presented article, my only point would be that they missed out "fat scouse twat" when describing Micky Quimm
Micky Quinn, the former Newcastle forward, said recently that Stoke deserve to go down and, naturally, that Newcastle deserve to stay up because of their “magnificent, long-suffering fans”. He evidently knows nothing about Stoke. This is a club that spent 23 years outside the top flight and yet continued to inspire just the kind of blind faith and fervour among their supporters for which Newcastle are fêted.
Let us take the comparison further. Stoke are well run from top to bottom; Newcastle are a shambles. Stoke have an experienced and relatively long-serving manager with experience and vision; Newcastle have just hauled a bloke off the Match of the Day sofa to make him their sixth new manager in less than five years. Stoke have a powerful team ethic and a fervent spirit; Newcastle have a disparate bunch of expensive misfits and are immeasurably less than the sum of their parts.

One of the best reads about us all season. Oliver Kay has hit it spot on and it's refreshing to see that our boys get some credit.
His post is made even sweeter with his little piece on that fat "Bob Carolgees" lookalike Mick "The Dick" Quinn.
Spot on.

Superb. Made me quite emotional did that! Have a read too ofm the Times match report this morning. www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/article6041146.eceJust read this bit too... What is more, faced by the predictably open team Tony Mowbray keeps sending out, Pulis selected an expansive midfield, who proceeded to let Jonathan Greening and Co play in front of them before showing how it should be done by passing the ball through their opponents; Glenn Whelan was the best footballer on the pitch. Stoke did not just beat West Brom, they played better football.

Superb. I would just like to point out though that the media's sudden sucking of our balls after a season of derision has not gone unoticed!

The comments are equally pleasing.
Not really bothered about the media giving us write up's, I'm more smitten with rival clubs realising they were wrong about us.

The majority of the posts show the joke the Premier league has become, small teams like Stoke, Bolton and Wigan have no fan base and no desire to do anything other than survive so what is the point of them being in the Premier League???
what an idiot

I LIKE THIS QOUTE
I am an Arsenal fan now living in the midlands. As I have a relation whose home is within walking distance of the Britannia (and therefore I can park easily and use the rural routes to and from) I invested in a season ticket when Stoke were promoted last year.
I was mightily impressed with everything about the club and the noise level in the stadium is unbelievable. The football is not always of the highest quality but the passion is tremendous. What the club have achieved with the resources available is awesome.
I have renewed my season ticket (before the WBA match!) and am happy to give my whole hearted support to the club except for one particular home game!
Best wishes and continued success to The Mighty Potters.

Posted by: Matt (Fulham Fan) | 6 Apr 2009 10:07:30 The thing I like about Pulis is how, unlike Brown at Hull, he is not drawn to the limelight. He has done an amazing job, using the resources avaliable to him very well (Beattie and Etherington in jan where cracking signings), but is never seen in the media talking up what a great job he is doing. He just stays quiet, and does a great job! It'll be interesting next season (I fully expect them to stay up) to see if he can push on with his team. Well said that man. Don't agree with everything Pulis does but as a man i think he's a top bloke who been so classy this year it makes you proud. In time if ( when ) we survive, the praise will start flooding in for him from everywhere and boy will he deserve it. Gooooaaarn Tone ;D

As others have said its not so much the article which is very good but I'm most pleased with the comments of other fans my favourite was this :- As a gunners fan I can't say that I have fallen in love with the brand of football that Stoke employ in the league, years of watching Wengers passing game will do that to you! But that matters not really because I have respect for Stoke and what they have done so far this term.
The team seems to be without the big time charlie attitude that some display and have proven to be a team not only difficult to beat but also capable of playing some good stuff as well as playing with plenty of heart. They, unlike some teams in our division, play a physical game without being overly violent or dirty; they compete but with more of a sporting sense. I also like watching Pulis in his interviews as he comes across as being a grounded man and someone who can be respected. Fair play to Stoke.
If I had the power to choose who takes that 3rd spot (I am assuming WB and Boro are already down here)in the relegation zone I would definately choose Newcastle over them. As Oliver Kay has suggested here the Geordies are a chaotic joke of a club who perhaps deserve to suffer this fate due to some baffling and stupid decisions off the pitch and having a bunch of individuals rather than a team on it. Atleast the Stoke players seem unified and committed to their cause....

Wel well well.
The thing is it is foolhardy of the media and pundits to slag a particular team or its supporters off.
If they had any brains at all they would realise that the reason that we are the loudest and best supporters in the land is because we are enjoying our premiership experience.
Of course there have been lows, we expected it but there have been tremendous highs such as the fantastic result on Saturday. Most Stokies will carry memories from this season to the grave. Good memories for the right reasons.
It is important also that we are not just a set of supporters we are a real community. We have stood together to deflect the unwarranted criticism since August and we feed off it positively as does the team.
People are now starting to realise that the dignity belongs in Stoke On Trent. We are different class.
Certainly class is a word that cant be associated with the likes of Quim, Durham, Wright et al who perform like chimps in front of anyone who will listen to their jibberish.

I wouldn't show this article to the players until we're mathematically safe. The job isn't finished yet by a long stretch, although our position is pleasing, and I think we should all take a leaf out of Tone's book by remaining grounded for just a little longer. A nice article to be read at the end of the season IMO.
