Rory is a much better and intelligent player than Amdy. He was excellent in the centre against Boro. For me its got to be him and Whelan in the middle.

there is no way we will play away with delap and whelan in the middle and neither should we imo. Amdy is just about the most mobile central midfielder we've got and against a footballing midfield he would be my choice, btw Salif has put in some exceptional performances this season, particularly away from home not least at Liverpool, and this intent to turn him into the latest hate figure is disgusting. His form hasn't been good of late but that would appear to be largely down to a lack of fitness.
Its a shame really that Abdy Faye is so vital at centre back because I still maintain that he would be our best midfielder by a country mile.

I think Rory is more mobile than Amdy (both have been good) and he can get forward as well as back. Salif had a good game at Liverpool. Can't think of another. Since his return last season he's simply not looked the part on anything like a consistent basis, and shouldn't be anywhere near the side. Abdy was poor in the centre against Everton I thought. Apparently he played well there for Bolton, but it's way too much of a gamble to risk breaking up our central defensive pairing.

the reaction of the crowd when salif was subbed, may get him to pull his finger out. i thought he was visibly shocked against middlesbrough when brought off, at the fans reaction. he definitely needs to wake up, that's for sure.

I really don't think Diao is good enough to be in the starting lineup. He's also a defensive player and that is not what we need on Saturday (IMO). We need to win the midfield battle, grasp the initiative and keep The Baggies on the backfoot. Playing Diao is almost equal to inviting them to attack us. So if I can make a wish for Saturday then no Diao.
It would be great if Wilko is fit to play, but if he's still injured then we might as well put on a fresh player from the beginning. TP has tried before to use players who have barely passed the late fitness test and who have needed injections to play. That kind of gamble has hurt us in a couple of games this season and a similar situation must be avoided on Saturday.

Like you say it would be madness to even consider breaking up his partnership with ryan which has been the bedrock of our season. It probably says more about my opinion of our central midfielders than it does of my overriding desire to see abdy play there - it really will be mperative to strenghen in there even if we go down. As for salif I thought in his first dozen or so games he did a very good and important job for us. Why Pulis rates him as highly as he does however I will never know and his frankly ridiculous praise of him is inexplicable and has probably added to the pressure on salif too. Similarly why on earth he has been thrown staright back into the team since his injury I will never understand, his history with us and beyond has shown that he takes a long time to regain match fitness and boy does it show. It just frustrates me that there seemingly has to be a token target for criticism - first it was griff, then it was cressie now its sal.

I totally agree that the fact that there's always a mandatory scapegoat is depressing. Some of the abuse Griff and Cressie have come in for is depressing (and I wouldn't have either of them or Diao in the team). It was the same with Mama last season from people too thick to see what he brought to the team.

i reckon whelan may be on the bench, but he shouldn't be because he is a quality player, btw anyone know how to get a picture on your oatcake profile thing? Go into profile at the top of the page then edit profile and you can add pictures, avatars, signatures etc. I should watch some of them on here if you are putting a picture on!! I'm OK though!
