I actually look forward to saturday with relish -we're more than good enough for this division , (especially after the January signings ) and, well overdue to absolutely batter someone.
Why NOT BORO ?

I can't wait,my first game since Pompey 2-2,due to distance and working various satddees i don't get up as much as i'd like. Only my 10th game this season, sorry folks, but as well as boro i have my Stoke v Geordies tickets too, being down here i will defo go Fulham game as they never sell out, then as many as i can get till end of season. AND IF,yes IF we get relegated(i am confident we won't) then i will do the same next season,go to as many games as physically and financially possible regardless of who we play,do you know why, because I LOVE STOKE CITY AND WILL WATCH AND SUPPORT THEM TILL THE DAY I DIE MILLERMAY! THROUGH HELL AND HIGH WATER,THICK AND THIN,COME WHAT MAY, GWWWAAARRRNNNN STOKE ;D P.s. taking the missus to her first Stoke game vs Geordies as she is from Geordie stock, actually Stanley in Durham, but they all support Newcastle and i'm living with them all at mo,GWWAAARRRNN STOKE ;D ;D

I have a bad feeling every saturday! - Nothing to do with the quality of management / players. Bolton was one of the less stressful games however ;D

Just hope to god there's no last minute heartbreak.
Can't stand anymore late on in season's, especially after what happened a lot in 06/07 against the likes of Cardiff and Hull.

I actually look forward to saturday with relish -we're more than good enough for this division , (especially after the January signings ) and, well overdue to absolutely batter someone. Why NOT BORO ? Absolute rubbish. We have a team that can compete, but look more likely to go down than stay up. Just in case you hadn't noticed, we are in the bottom 3 and haven't won (or looked like winning) away all season. It's flip of the coin for 6 or 7 teams. You can dress it up how you like but them's the facts. Stoke will have to scrap for every point. As for over confidence, I don't see that. One thing the manager is good at is lowering expectation and keeping feet on the ground. If fans are over confident they should beware. Boro could easily come to Stoke on Saturday and turn us over. They have some half decent players (certainly as good as ours) on paper and they could suddenly fire. Saying all that I expect Stoke to win - we have a cracking home record and our support is a big factor. Get at them early and get ahead early. 2-0 to Stoke.

I have a cure for this bad feeling you have. You need to go to the match on Saturday and from the moment you get in to the ground, to the moment you leave, you need to shout your head off in support of Stoke. You need to sing louder than anyone else in the ground. You need to cheer at full volume at every touch by every Stoke player. You must shout abuse on full volume at every Boro player who even dares to go near the ball. You also need to scream utter abuse at every decision that goes against us. This will make you a part of what is known as the 12th man. As long as you do your bit we will win.

Points in our favour include: 1. Our 8 game form (see link below) is better than 5 of the teams around us in the table 2. We have a better run in than all our near rivals - more home games than away games and the majority of games are against teams in the bottom half - and we do, despite what some think, have a better record in terms of points per game against the bottom half than the top half. stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/PR/oform.htmlI'd say the odds favour us staying up.

ON PAPER we have a decent run in but we are playing teams scrapping for survival. We have a chance of staying up but we have to play well. It's not a given and contrary to what ukyestony is saying, we are not too good to go down.

No, Pugsley, as you say, we are not too good to go down. On the other hand I think you were wrong to say we "look more likely to go down than stay up".

So its now 'absolute rubbish' to be optimistic about your football team and look at their potential and recognise that, at their best they could well thrash somebody- even at this level ?
Absolute rubbish to say that ? more like 'fucking wierd' to say such a positive outlook is 'absolute rubbish'
Then again, we are talking Stoke city suporters here where, being depressed - being OVERLY critical - finding fault with absolutely everything about our club - no mattter what-
is the norm
I'll try to remain optimistic though
ps. EXACTLY where did I say we are too good to go down ?
I cant seem to find that comment

It's not a given and contrary to what ukyestony is saying, we are not too good to go down. So you would rather still have to play Manure, Chelski an Liverpool then play teams "scrapping for survival"?!?! I expect us to beat Boro and we have a very good chance of staying unbeaten at home the rest of this season. I think that alone will keep us up but i think we will get our 1st away at Brazil

I doing a Tony Pulis - lowering expectation, making you all aware of the facts that we are in the bottom three and are favourites to go down. I am positive about Saturday - I have predicted a win ffs. If we are more than good enough we would be safely in the mid table ala Wigan.
All I'm saying is that Stoke are going to have to play well and work their balls off to get anything from this division. There are people on here thinking that just turning up will be enough. We aren't more than good enough - our position in table proves that.

Yes, all well and good Pugsley - but you DID say we "look more likely to go down than stay up". Do you really think that? From the outside looking in we DO look likely to go down. We occupy a relegation spot and we have 4 points away from home all season. Do I think we will go down - it's 50-50 in my opinion. Do I expect to stay up - yes, we have spent a fortune on players. Win on Saturday we can keep the momentum going. Lose and i think it will be a hammer blow to the teams confidence. My question is - if we are 'more than good enough' then a. why are we 3rd from bottom and b. whose fault will it be if we DO go down?

West Brom and Hull away are both winnable.
Mathematically we can stay up without winning an away game, so I cant see our bad away form being the key factor in us staying up

I'm very confident we will turn them over on sat. They are a mess at the back and not scoring many goals going forward, are short of confidence and don't exactly have an inspirational gaffer to get them firing. And playing us away aint exactly a game they are going to be looking forward to. We are big favorites in my eyes
