Its just jealousy that the Vale fans show Mr Smith.
PS your head looks to shiny on that banner above your column.

They were also offered the chance to discuss the possibility of new grounds in Cobridge and Tunstall. Upon turning down one of these offers, one senior Vale official asked: “Where are we supposed to get that kind of money from?”
One thing was that Vale could have sold the land Vale Park is on but that would have meant Bell relinquishing control so he refused to even consider it.
Off the subject of the article Smudge but I do feel our reaction in 1989 to Vale finally getting level with...then above us was an added factor to our relegation in 1990.

I think it's fair to safe that you're going to be the flavour of the month on OVF later.

I'm not sure you should be giving PVFC that kind of detailed sage advice.
They might just take it and none of us wants to see a resurgent Port Vale!

Thats only the tip of the iceberg. Lets not forget that the Vale don't get equal air time with Stoke on the locall BBC radio station. "And now over to Vale Park where the first team is....let us check...yes its still absolute shite!"

More likely it will be interesting to see what a certain Mr Tideswell has to say further on this subject........ Obnoxious biased ranting as per usual no doubt, based on falsehoods or partial evidence before hiding behind his Newspaper's legal team.... pleading "it is only an opinion". Funny how his views are not pulled even though read as libelous, but everyone elses are!!!

To be honest there is nothing more that I would like to see than Vale playing Confrence football. I would love it. Do other people feel the same way about them and their fans?

Spot-on, Smudge, and another reason why I cannot understand those who hate The Sentinel so much and refuse to read it. If even you can forgive them, (after their Macari bitterness) by writing for it, then why can't others enjoy reading the likes of you and other Stokies, in its pages? I read it every night (on my computer) and, because I don't expect a provincial newspaper to be brilliant, I enjoy reading about what is happening, - or not - in the City. As for council favouritism, I'm not sure I'd consider it a complnment to be favoured by them!

im not from stoke on trent so dont have the dislike for the vale as those born and bred in the city
it seems to me they are like a broken record going on about how stoke in the same way everton fans keep going on about liverpool being the cause of thier problems

I don't know all the ins and outs of the local arguementss but in general taking control of your own fate and accepting responsibility for your own fate is what anyone with anything about them will do.
Its easy to blame others and throw your arms in the air when things go wrong but success isn't achieved by accident and its never easy despite what outsiders may feel.
If the Vale want to move on they need to look a little closer to home and do what Crewe did and Stoke are doing.
PS Excellent article!

I dunno, one of 'em on OVF makes some good points very eloquently.............. "Futch off smith Just look at the whining lardy's photograph - he's a joke What he doesn't mention is that it's not that long ago we beat them time and time again"

Smudge, I know we've had hooligan problems before, but I don't think it's ever been that bad...

Good article.
As for complaints of us getting the Stadium on the cheap etc:
It would be interesting to know how much rent the Council was paid by SCFC since the Stadium was built up to the point of its sale. Not to mention the increase in business rate revenue from the Trentham Lakes site as a whole.

"Futch off smith Just look at the whining lardy's photograph - he's a joke What he doesn't mention is that it's not that long ago we beat them time and time again" I find it quite hilarious how it's become second-nature for Vale fans to refer to Stoke supporters as "lardies", when they nicked the term from a joke in a Leyton Orient fanzine which was aimed at all Potteries folk. A follow-up even had someone in a photo exclaiming, in a super-imposed speech-balloon, "Up the Vale!" Cocks.

For some unknown reason I actually clicked on the link, but that little gem made it all worthwhile. The only loud noise you'll hear at Vale Park is the sonic boom created by five thousand soap-dodgers leaving the ground faster than the speed of sound, following yet another home defeat. ;D
